The luxury hotel brand Ritz-Carlton will operate a multi-story hotel and condominium project in Turks and Caicos, announced the Premier of the Islands, Dr. Rufus Ewing.

The brand will replace the planned JW Marriott hotel on Grace Bay on the island of Providenciales in Turks and Caicos and will be developed by Venezuela-based Desarrollos Hotelco, which opened the Ritz-Carlton Aruba last year.

The Turks and Caicos Islands' government has revealed that it will be a $202 million, three-prong luxury beachfront hotel and casino development located on 11 acres of the famous Grace Bay Beach. There are plans for 263 guest rooms and suites and it is scheduled to open after 2016.

Desarrollos is also reportedly in talks to build a new luxury resort in Bermuda in the Caribbean.

Turks and Caicos is a nation situated in the West Indies, north of the Dominican Republic and Haiti, and southeast of The Bahamas.

The Caribbean country has 40 islands and cays, of which only eight are inhabited, and the islands are just 90 minutes from Miami.

The island of Providenciales spans 38 miles and is home to stunning natural landscapes including the vast Grace Bay beach; the naturally-formed limestone opening called The Hole, and Chalk Sound; a long coral reef, which is thriving with marine species; and a large lake with cobalt water and a collection of small cays.

Providenciales is more built up than many other islands in Turks and Caicos and it boasts a variety of luxury beachfront hotels and resorts, pristine white sand beaches, and gourmet restaurants, while the capital island, Grand Turk, is rich in history and is home to colonial-style buildings and historic ruins, a luxury cruise facility and pier, and several museums and tourist attractions.

Founded in 1983, Ritz-Carlton operates more than 80 luxury hotels and resorts in 26 countries all over the world.
