Panama City boosts its number of hotel rooms
Marketing Challenges International (MCIntl), the North American marketing and sales office for Panama, have launched their latest promotional campaign for the Central American country. As a part of the campaign, the firm has highlighted Panama City's growing hotel industry.
Panama City is beginning to establish itself as a key tourism destination in the Central America not only for holidaymakers keen to visit the country's beautiful beaches and rainforests but Panama has also seen an increased number of business travellers in recent years. Marketing Challenges International (MCIntl) latest promotional campaign has highlighted the recent boom in Panama City's hotel market with an increase from 7000 rooms in 2007 to 13000 rooms in 2014.
Notably, much of the increase in inventory has been driven by new entries to the market from large hotel brands and boutique hotels as well as increased investment from other major brands already operating in Panama. Westin Playa Bonita, Hilton Panama, Hard Rock Hotel Panama Megapolis, Trump Ocean Clun International Hotel and Tower are among some of the recent hotel openings in Panama City. The president of MCIntl, Michel Couturier, stated of the trend:
"More than 60 international corporations have established their regional headquarters here. Panama is one of the most important economic centres in Latin America and is an essential business hub connecting North and South America. It's no surprise that nearly every major international hotel brand has recently opened a property here".
MCIntl contends that growth in tourism is only going to continue especially with the pending launch of Panama's new convention centre, the Amador Convention Center is expected to open its doors in 2015 and the US$193m center will be spread across 173,889 square meters of space and will feature a banquet hall, exhibition hall, conference facilities, a grand plaza, an outdoor Amphitheatre as well as a performance arts theatre equipped to host 1500 guests including balcony and box seats.
The new convention center is conveniently located on the banks of the Panama Canal- which recently celebrated its 100 year anniversary- and is easily accessible from the Tocumen International Airport making this the ideal location for those interested in hosting a key event in Panama City.
MCIntl has partnered with the Tourism Authority of Panama (ATP) and is acting as the official North American marketing and sales office for Panama.
