Marriott to Add Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas to its Autograph Collection

Marriott International has announced that the Atlantis, Paradise Island resort in the Caribbean will become part of its Autograph Collection and will be the first Bahamas property to be added to the global portfolio. The 3,400-room resort will operate under a Marriott franchise agreement and will join the collection this autumn.

Marriott International will be adding a new property to its exclusive Autograph Collection this autumn. Atlantis, Paradise Island in the Bahamas will be the first property in the country to join the hotel group's collection of independent hotels.

The luxury all inclusive resort will operate under a franchise agreement with Marriott International and it will be benefit from the hotel chain's extensive global sales and reservations system and the 45-million member Marriott Rewards loyalty programme.

The resort is owned by Brookfield Asset Management and independently managed, and it will operate under a long-term franchise agreement with Marriott who will also provide a $100 million mezzanine loan for the project. Arne Sorenson, the President and CEO of Marriott International, Inc, explained:

"Having Atlantis, Paradise Island join our Autograph Collection is a milestone achievement for the brand and the company. We are excited to partner with Brookfield and put the full power of Marriott behind one of the world's most spectacular and popular resorts, while adding to our global resort portfolio in a key destination where we know our guests want to travel."

Atlantis is located on Paradise Island and is one of the most luxurious hotels in the Bahamas with 3,400 guest rooms, suites, and villas. The property has upscale facilities including, 40 diverse restaurants, bars and lounges; the largest casino on the island; 141 acres of waterscape featuring a full-service marina, fresh and saltwater lagoons, pools and the Dolphin Cay; nightclubs; an 18-hole Ocean Club Golf Course, tennis courts and a fitness centre; kids' clubs; and the lavish Mandara Spa.

George Markantonis, the President and Managing Director of Brookfield Hospitality and Atlantis, Paradise Island, also commented:

"This agreement to partner with the Autograph Collection could arguably be the single most significant tourism stimulus for The Bahamas in this decade. This strategic and beneficial partnership will help grow visitation of Marriott International loyalists to the country and open a broader channel for guests to visit Atlantis from around the world."

The Bahamas is a nation made up of a collection of idyllic islands, including Bimini, Berry Islands, Crooked Island Mayaguana, Acklins, The Berry Islands, Nassau, The Exumas, Grand Bahama Island, and Harbour Island.

The country boasts unique beautiful pink sand beaches created from fractured seashell mixed with sand, and a number of natural attractions such as an underwater limestone cave system, tropical botanical gardens and verdant nature reserves.
