Integrated Tourism Complex in Salalah will boost number of rooms in Oman

Holidaymakers and tourism officials alike are eagerly awaiting the completion of the Salalah Beach project in Oman. Set to change the landscape of tourism in Oman by adding much needed rooms and attracting investor attention, Salalah Beach is one of the largest Integrated Tourism Complexes in Oman.

Integrated Tourism Complex in Salalah will boost number of rooms in Oman

With just 1019 rooms available in Salalah from key hotel such as the Hilton Salalah Resort, Crowne Plaza, Juweira Boutique Hotel, Mariott and Rotana, the Muriya Tourism Development Company is developing a solution that will help Salalah deal with the increasing demand for hotels - The Salalah Beach Project.

The Salalah Beach Project is set to be one of the largest Integrated Tourism Complexes (ITC) in Oman spreading across 15.6 million square meters along the beautiful coastline. As part of the development there will be five luxury hotels launched at Salalah Beach, these in addition to the two that are already operational- Zweira Boutique and the Rotana luxury resort. Other facilities that will be available this ITC include Karl Litten and Jeffery Myers designed golf courses, restaurants, retail shops-all ensuring that guests have all the essentials at their fingertips while enjoying the Oman in Salalah Beach.

Oman is said to be turning its attention to tourism with hopes of boosting the industry's contribution to the national revenue from the current levels of 6.4 per cent to 8.2 per cent by the year 2024. Recent reports coming out of Oman indicate a steady growth in the country's tourism sector with more and more international holidaymakers booking flights to Oman.

Figures for the January to April 2014 to date reveal a 2.6 per cent increase in the number of international flights arriving at Muscat International Airport (MCT) when compared to the same period in 2013. Along with the increase in aircraft movements there was an 8 per cent increase in international holidaymakers by the end of April when compared with the same period in 2013.

Officials are hoping that major ITC projects like Salalah Beach will help to further develop the tourism sector. Oman is currently overseeing $14.7m worth of projects all with the hopes of attracting the attention of international investors.

"Salalah Beach offers all investors the opportunity to purchase property on a freehold ownership basis. Upon completion of ownership Omani residency is granted along with the financial benefits of residing in Oman, such as zero income and property tax for the duration of the property deed"

Stated Samih Sawris chairman of Muriya and CEO of Orascom.
