Tourism Minister announced plans for new hotel and casino in St George's, Bermuda

The Tourism Minister of Bermuda, Shawn Crockwell, has announced that a new 348-room resort and casino will be built on the former Club Med site in St George's. The property will be constructed by the Desarrollos Hotelco Group and according to Crockwell, it will be managed by a "high-end luxury" hotel brand.

Shawn Crockwell, the Tourism Minister of Bermuda has revealed that a brand new resort and casino will be constructed in St George's.

The Desarrollos Hotelco Group has entered an exclusive negotiation period to build the 348-room hotel in Bermuda on the site of the former Club Med property.

The new hotel will include development of the St George's Golf Course and will have 248 hotel guest rooms, 16 hotel residences, 24 golf villas, and 16 three and four estate residences, plus facilities including a spa and fitness centre, a grand ballroom in Fort Victoria, swimming pools, a pool bar and grill, a casino, and a restaurant in Fort Albert.

Crockwell said that a hotel brand has not yet been confirmed for the development but it would be a "high-end luxury" brand.

The Desarrollos Group was established in 1996 and has developed a number of properties across Latin America and the Caribbean, including the JW Marriott, The Marriott Playa Grande and the Renaissance in Venezuela, and the Ritz-Carlton in Aruba.
