Cayman Islands Awarded 156 TripAdvisor Certificates in 2014

The Cayman Islands has received 156 TripAdvisor tourism awards this year, just one less award than 2013. The Caribbean islands received certificates for popular attractions such as the Seven Mile Beach, the underwater Kittiwake wreck and Stingray City, and local businesses including restaurants, hotels and diving shops were also honoured.

The Cayman Islands are a popular tourist destination in the Caribbean, famous for having excellent scuba diving conditions and this year, the island nation has received more than 150 TripAdvisor awards.

In 2014, the Cayman Islands have received at total of 156 certificates, just one less than last year, and local businesses, attractions, hotels, restaurants and beaches have been honoured by travellers.

The list of awards includes 65 attractions, 59 cafes and restaurants, 33 hotels and guest houses and 20 scuba diving shops.

Stingray City continues to be the leading attraction in the Cayman Islands, while tourist hotspots such as Seven Mile Beach, and the sunken Kittiwake wreck have been highly rated by TripAdvisor reviewers.

The Caribbean Club is ranked as the top Cayman Islands hotel, Bombay Chopsticks in East End is the favourite restaurant, and Sunset House was awarded as the Top Performing Hotel and Dive Resort for the third year in a row. Keith Sahm from Sunset House commented:

"There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one's customers. With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence."

"This award is not just for the hotel, but the entire staff of Sunset Divers, SeaHarvest and My Bar, that make the entire experience possible."

TripAdvisor certificate are awarded to companies who have maintained an average four-star rating or higher for 12 months, based on the website reviews of travellers. Marc Charron, the President of TripAdvisor for Business commented:

"TripAdvisor is pleased to honour exceptional hospitality businesses for consistent excellence. The Certificate of Excellence award gives top performing establishments around the world the recognition they deserve, based on feedback from those who matter most – their customers."

The Cayman Islands are made up of three main islands located in the west Caribbean Sea, south of Cuba: Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac.

The islands boast pristine white sand beaches and crystal clear warm turquoise waters where divers can discover an array of diving sites that are thriving with marine life such as vibrant colourful coral and sponges, Green Sea Turtles, Stingrays, Groupers, Garden Eels, and Parrot Fish.
