Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa celebrated the official grand opening of its newest village last weekend.
The 157-room Key West Luxury Village opened its doors to guests a year ago but the official opening ceremony took place at the main Beaches Turks and Caicos resort on 18th May, 2013.
The village is located on the site of the former Veranda resort that sits adjacent to the main Beaches resort on the renowned Grace Bay Beach on the island of Providenciales.
During the event there was a performance by Enid Capron Primary School's choir, the all inclusive beachfront resort's adopted local school, and there was entertainment from a parade of characters from Sesame Street and acrobatic performers.
The ceremony was attended by Rufus Washington Ewing, the premier and minister of tourism, culture and heritage for Turks and Caicos; Anya Williams, the acting deputy governor of the island nation; Portia Simpson-Miller, the Prime Minister of Jamaica; John Maginley, the Minister of tourism, civil aviation and culture for Antigua and Barbuda; and Lorne Theophilus, the Minister of tourism, heritage and creative industries for St Lucia.
Gordon "Butch" Stewart, the Chairman of Beaches' parent, Sandals Resorts International, explained:
"We started at this property with 150 bedrooms many years ago and have developed it into one of the most luxurious and most popular family resorts in the world."
The total number of rooms available at the Beaches Turks and Caicos Resort Villages and Spa is now 770 and there are three villages that encompass the architecture of Italy, France, the Caribbean and Key West.
The luxury resort boasts a 45,000 square-foot water park, a 12-mile pristine sandy beach, a Red Lane Spa, a new Xbox® Play Lounge, kid's and teen clubs, six swimming pools, two children's pool, 19 restaurants serving international cuisine and 12 bars that range from swim-up pool bars to sophisticated lounges.
