Centara Hotels & Resorts to open new hotel in Oman

Centara Hotels & Resorts has announced plans to expand its Middle East portfolio with the opening of a new hotel in Oman next year.

The Centara Muscat Hotel will mark the hotel group’s debut in Oman and it is scheduled to open on 1st June, 2015.

The hotel will be owned by Irfan International Hotel Limited Liability Company and managed by Thailand’s largest hotel operator, Centara Hotels & Resorts.

The Middle East region is a strategic one for us, and we are delighted to be announcing the opening of Centara Muscat Hotel,” explained Thirayuth Chirathivat, the Chief Executive Officer of Centara Hotels & Resorts.

“Oman becomes our tenth overseas destination, and we deeply appreciate the trust that international investors are placing in our unique Thai style of hotel management.”

The hotel in Muscat will be aimed at both business and leisure travellers and will have 154 guest rooms and suites, two restaurants and bars, a swimming pool, a fitness centre, a spa and extensive meeting and event facilities.

The hotel group will open another property in the Middle East after it announced its plans earlier this year to open a hotel in Qatar.
There are also Centara hotels and resorts about to open or under development in countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, China, Laos, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, and Ethiopia.

Muscat is the capital of Oman and tourists can walk for miles along the city’s beautiful beaches and coastline, or explore the historic sites and attractions such as the Al Jalali Fort and Al Mirani forts, Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Qurum National Park and the Bait az-Zubair Museum.

The shores off the coast of Muscat offer excellent conditions for scuba diving holidays and the clear waters are teeming with colourful soft and hard corals and hundreds of marine creatures, from seahorses and Oman clownfish, to loggerhead turtles, dolphins, sharks and humpback whales.
