Oman Air teams up with Tourism Ministry to offer new packages to Oman

The Oman Ministry of Tourism has joined forces with Oman Air to launch new holiday packages in an attempt to attract more visitors from countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).

The "Oman Short Breaks" have been designed to encourage visitors from the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia to take Oman holidays during the spring and summer seasons.

The packages will include return flights with Oman Air and accommodation at a list of luxury hotels in Muscat and Salalah.

"The Oman Ministry of Tourism, in association with the several key players in the travel and tourism sector, is aggressively promoting the Sultanate as an attractive global tourist destination."

"Through our strategic partnership with Oman Air, we have been able to create tremendous awareness about tourism options in Oman, which has generated fruitful results."

Explained Ghasi Humaid Al Hashmi, the Director General of Tourism Promotion for the Oman Ministry of Tourism.

Hospitality experts have recently predicted that Oman's tourism industry is expected to grow by six to eight per cent annually until 2017.

Oman's national airline, Oman Air currently operates seven daily flights between Dubai and Muscat, four daily flights between Dubai to Salalah, and three daily flights between Abu Dhabi to Muscat.

"Oman is an ideal holiday destination for tourists from both the Middle East region and further afield, and Oman Air is the perfect way to travel there, We are therefore delighted to join with the Ministry of Tourism to launch ‘Oman Short Breaks', which will, over the space of just a few days, provide holiday-makers with a wonderful opportunity to explore Oman's many popular tourist destinations and enjoy a memorable Omani experience."

Stated Masoud Al-Balushi, the Country Manager of Oman Air.

Oman's capital Muscat is a popular destination for tourists, and while visiting Oman, tourists can walk for miles along the city's beautiful beaches and coastline, or explore the historic sites and attractions such as the Al Jalali Fort and Al Mirani forts, Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Qurum National Park and the Bait az-Zubair Museum.

Despite the country's thousands of miles of dry golden sand deserts and dunes, Oman is fast-becoming a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkelling activities. The shores off the coast of Muscat offer excellent conditions for scuba diving Oman holidays and the waters are teeming with colourful soft and hard corals and hundreds of marine species, from seahorses and Oman clownfish, to loggerhead turtles, dolphins, sharks and humpback whales.
