Great House on Richard Branson's Necker Island to reopen in September
The Great House on Richard Branson's private Necker Island will be opening its doors once again to holidaymakers wanting to experience a truly luxurious Caribbean holiday, after it was badly damaged by a fire in 2011. The nine-bedroom property has been renovated over the past two years and it is scheduled to open again in September, 2013.
Richard Branson's private Necker Island is getting ready to welcome more guests this autumn when the Great House reopens in September, 2013.
The nine-bedroom house in the British Virgin Islands has been closed to tourists after it was hit by lightening during a storm in 2011 and a fire severely damaged the property.
"The brand new Great House is the heart of the island and I am thrilled with the results so far," Mr Branson stated in a press release. "The opening of the Great House in September signals a new dawn for Necker which I'm very excited about."
Hollywood actress, Kate Winslet was spending her holidays in the Caribbean with her children on Necker Island when the house caught fire in the early hours of the morning on Monday 22nd August, 2011. Branson's son raised the alarm after he heard explosions and Winslet carried Branson's 90-year-old mother, Eva, from the house to safety.
The luxurious house was destroyed by 200-feet-high flames but two years later, the property has been renovated and now offers nine bedrooms, including a spacious 1,500-square-foot master suite and a bunkroom that can accommodate up to six children.
As well as the Great House, the luxurious island has six individual Bali Houses, and a total of 30 guests can stay on the island at the same time. The island also boasts the billionaire's 105-foot-long luxury catamaran Necker Belle and his private home, Temple House.
Located in the British Virgin Islands, surrounded by turquoise waters, Necker Island is a fantastic choice for wealthy travellers who are seeking an exclusive and super high end destination for their holidays to the Caribbean. The island can be rented completely for approximately $60,000 per night or tourists can choose the Celebration Week package where individual rooms can be rented for seven night stays. Guests can enjoy upscale facilities and services during their holidays, including private pools, tennis courts and a personal chef.
