Oman Air expands its fleet to include three additional A330-300 aircrafts

National carrier Oman Air has recently announced the expansion of its fleet to include three newly purchased Airbus A330-300 aircrafts. The purchase is said to be a part of Oman Air's long haul operations growth strategy. Currently the airline provides direct flights between Oman and some of the Gulf's most popular destinations including Abu Dhabi alongside long haul flights to destinations like the Maldives and Zanzibar.

In a bid to increase its long-haul flight offerings, Oman Air has ordered three new A330-300 aircrafts. The new aircrafts are likely to be configured to accommodate six flat bed seats in first class, 20 business class seats and 204 economy seats in addition to the personal in flights entertainment systems. USB ports and power sockets which are currently standard features on all Oman Air A330's.

Chief Operating Officer of Airbus, John Leahy had the following to say of his firm's work with Oman Air, "We are proud to continuously grow and develop our partnership with Oman Air through our popular A330-300 aircraft. The winning combination of efficiency, reliability and comfort provided by the A330 continues to delight customers and passengers worldwide and will do so for many years to come, with our consistent investment in the aircraft family".

Muscat based Oman Air is the national carrier of the Sultanate of Oman. The airline currently offers direct flights to key holiday destination from Muscat including, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Doha, Riyadh and Tehran. In addition to key Gulf destination, Oman Air also operates flights to the Maldives, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Tanzania's Zanzibar and Dar Es Salaam.

Wayne Pearce Oman Air CEO noted the role that the additional aircrafts would have in supporting Oman Air's long haul operations growth strategy, "The efficiency, reliability and passenger appeal of our in-service A330's already make The Pillar of Oman Air 's long haul operations... This additional order will allow us to continue our strategy of growth with an aircraft we know to be both reliable and profitable, and in addition offering the highest levels of passenger comfort".

Currently Oman Air's fleet is comprised of four Airbus A330-200s, three Airbus A330-300s, 17 Boeing 737-700s/800s, four Embraer E175s and two ATR 42s. In addition to the three new A330-300s recently purchased, the airline has also acquired six new Boeing 737s due to be delivered in 2014 as well as 6 Boeing 787s Dreamliners, scheduled to be delivered in 2015.
