This weekend saw the much-anticipated opening of the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal hotel. This is the hotel company's debut hotel in Abu Dhabi and it's now open for Abu Dhabi holidays, business trips, and events.

With 447 elegant guest rooms and suites, and 85 one and two-bedroom private villas, the Abu Dhabi hotel is one of the most luxurious properties in the city.

"We are delighted to open our first hotel in the United Arab Emirates capital of Abu Dhabi, a city we have waited to be in until finding absolutely the right location," stated the President and Chief Operations Officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Herve Humler.

"Warm Arabian hospitality combined with legendary Ritz-Carlton service will create many unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences for visitors from around the world."

The Abu Dhabi hotel's facilities include a 1,600 square meter outdoor swimming pool, one of the largest in the United Arab Emirates; a fully-equipped health club; and the Ritz Kids Club which is perfect for younger guests.

In Abu Dhabi, holidaymakers can savour gourmet cuisine at the hotel's ten restaurants and bars, including three restaurants designed by award-winning Super Potato from Japan: Li Jiang, a modern Southeast Asian restaurant with an open kitchen; Mijina, which specialises in Arabic cuisine; and The Forge steak house with a fantastic selection of the world's wines.

The architecture of the Ritz-Carlton Abu Dhabi, Grand Canal was inspired by 15th to 17th century Renaissance style and the resort features ten waterfront stately buildings positioned in a crescent shape.

As well, as providing high end holidays in Abu Dhabi for tourists, the resort is a great venue for weddings and events with the 1,550-square-metre Roma Ballroom which can accommodate up to 900 guests, two large naturally-lit marble foyers, 14 meeting rooms, and a traditional Arabic majlis.

Visitors who are staying in the private villas can relax on spacious terraces and enjoy private butler service throughout their holidays in the Middle East.

Guests can enjoy 57-acres of manicured lawns with water features and private beaches and views of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.
