Port Antonio to grow as a top Jamaican holiday destination with the debut of the Geejam Collection

A promising future is in sight for Port Antonio as one of the most popular tourism destinations in Jamaica with the upcoming debut of three new luxurious properties by the Geejam Collection. The main aspiration of the collection, which is led by music veteran and hotelier Jon Baker, partner and co-owner, Steve Beaver and billionaire businessman and Port Antonio native, Michael Lee-Chin, is to persuade more visitors to take Jamaica holidays in Port Antonio.

The oceanfront 13-villa Trident Hotel, the famous Trident Castle, which has been repaired and converted into a lush eight-room hotel, and the Blue Lagoon Restaurant & Villas, will make their debut as some of the top deluxe hotels and resorts in Port Antonio later this year. The hotels will all combine comfort with natural beauty.

The Trident Hotel, which will open alongside the Trident Castle on 15th March, has been thoroughly renovated to include more facilities and comfort for the guests, but still maintains its original Jamaican-Georgian exteriors. The simple, yet beautiful décor comprises retro artwork which adds to its chic yet modest atmosphere. The property also includes, one and two-bedroom villas with private, heated plunge pools and terraces overlooking the sea, as well as outdoor soaking tubs, steam rooms, wet bars and refined modern interiors with amenities such as flat screen Apple TV’s and Wi-Fi.

Guests will be able to relax in the hotel’s broad public spaces, which include an infinity swimming pool, a screening room that doubles as an art gallery, a boutique, a gym with a Jacuzzi, yoga deck and spa treatment room, and a library as well as two indoor bars and its own private beach and beach bar. They will also have the chance to enjoy great dining with the international dishes served that make special emphasis on Jamaican and Japanese cuisine, at the hotel’s main 80-seat restaurant. Guests can also take pleasure in trying exotic drinks at the Time Bar and Explorer’s Lounge, which features the largest selection of rare cognacs and Cuban rums in Jamaica.

The well-known oceanfront Trident Castle, built as a private residence by architect Earl Levy in 1979, has become a symbolic site of Port Antonio’s history. The Geejam Collection has recovered the old glamour of the landmark by refurbishing and keeping intact the original furnishings and interiors, which give it an old-fashioned chic décor. It now features eight bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and modern amenities such as compact digital surround sound system, Apple TV’s, mini-bar and Wi-Fi. The public rooms include a lush ballroom and banquet hall, an elegant drawing room and living area, adjoining sun rooms and state-of-the-art photography studio. These new perks make the castle a wonderful venue for visitors interested in experiencing extraordinary comfort while on holidays to Jamaica.

Exquisite personalised meals the blend Jamaican cuisine with global recipes will be served by the Castle’s culinary team in the dining room, outdoors or by the pool. The inside bar will feature a full selection of cocktails, wines and specialty elixirs, and guests will be able to take a dip in the Romanesque swimming pool with deck, overlooking the ocean. The Castle’s rates start at $275.

The Blue Lagoon Restaurant & Villas, the third and last project to be launched by the Geejam Collection, will offer visitors recreational services, dining and accommodations. Locals and tourists will be able to enjoy the aquamarine waters of this breathtaking natural wonder, while amusing themselves on the stunning north shore. A heritage museum, botanical gardens, public beach area, restaurant, pier-side craft kiosks and luxury villas are among the many plans for the revival of this beautiful location.
