The Veranda Resort under renovation as it aims to become one of Turks and Caicos' top luxury resorts
Management at the Veranda Resort in the Turks and Caicos have taken the tough decision to close during the crucial winter months for renovations despite the fact that this is a peak period for travellers booking Turks and Caicos holidays. The resort, recently acquired by Sandals Resorts International, will be brought up to the Sandals brand's high standards and will be rebranded as part of the firm's nearby Beaches Turks & Caicos luxury resort.
The winter period has long been the perfect excuse for many travellers to pack up, head to the sunny Caribbean and escape the bitter cold. Despite the fact that many travellers are expected to have booked Turks and Caicos holidays management at the Veranda resort took the tough decision to miss out on this important revenue stream recently announcing that they will be closed for renovations during the crucial winter season. The announcement noted that bookings will no longer be accepted as the resort would be closed from the 7th January through the month of March at the very least. The bold move underscores the resorts’ commitment to improving its standards as it aims to become one of the leading luxury Turks and Caicos resorts.
Nestled in the Turks and Caicos’ Providenciales island, The Veranda resort was recently purchased by the renowned hotel firm and parent company of Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts- Sandals Resort International (SRI). Determined to bring the Veranda Resort to the high
standards of the SRI, Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart SRI chairman noted, “This property has wonderful bones and will make a great resort; however, there are significant changes to be done to improve guest amenities which must be addressed before The Veranda may transition to become part of Beaches Turks and Caicos as we’d originally planned...Closing is always a difficult decision, but
the timing is right. With very little business on the books, we have the opportunity to get it right quickly”. Once the renovations are completed, the Veranda Resort, will be rebranded as the Key West Luxury Village and will become part of the nearby Beaches Turks & Caicos resort- a popular choice for travellers planning holidays in Turks and Caicos.
With the Veranda resort now in the very capable hands of the SRI-the 2012 winner Word Travel Awards’ category for World’s Leading All-Inclusive Company- there is little doubt that when unveiled the resort will prove to be one of the leading luxury resorts in the Turks and Caicos holiday industry. These sentiments were echoed by Mr. Steward himself as he stated, “We have a responsibility to our guests, our team members and the people of Turks and Caicos to do the right thing with everyone’s future in mind. When this new resort is unveiled, everyone will be proud to share this really potent asset to the tourism industry in the Turks and Caicos”.
