Samana becomes sixth JetBlue destination in the Dominican Republic with new flights launched

Samana, the beautiful and lush tourist resort in the Dominican Republic has become the sixth JetBlue destination in the country. The recently-established flights to Samana set a new record in the Caribbean nation's travel industry history seeing that JetBlue just became the largest airline to operate in the Dominican Republic, with more flights than any other carrier.

Thanks to the newly launched service to Samana, JetBlue offers a more complete service to travellers going on Dominican Republic holidays, by operating twice weekly flights on Wednesdays and Saturdays between the John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and President Juan Bosch International Airport (AZS) in Samana.

The service is also the only link between the United States and the coveted beach destination, giving JetBlue a privileged position among other carriers with flights to the Dominican Republic. The airline’s service to Samana will operate with JetBlue’s fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft. Scott Laurence, the airline’s vice president of network planning and partnerships, explained he was absolutely confident that their customers would be immediately interested in what the new destination had to offer.

He explained that the airline’s new destination was a beautiful tropical location with many attractive features, and as holidays to Samana kept growing, so would the number of customers travelling with JetBlue. “Samana is a beach paradise in the Dominican Republic, a secret worth discovering. We have no doubts our customers will rush to learn everything that this tropical location has to offer,” Mr. Laurence sid “We are very pleased, as the country’s largest carrier, to add more options for locals and visitors alike to continue exploring and enjoying everything the country has to offer. Samana is a destination we’ve long had our eye on; today we thank the Dominican government and communities for the support we continue to receive.”

Francisco Javier Garcia, Minister of Tourism for the Caribbean nation remarked that the recent JetBlue destination had many charming qualities potential tourists would enjoy. “Domincan Republic’s Samana Peninsula features pure ecological bliss with a breathtaking coastline, Los Haitises National Park, El Limon Waterfall, secluded beaches and charming towns like Samana, Las Galeras and Las Terrenas.”

He also stated that visitors would be able to participate in fun activities, go shopping and enjoy a luxurious stay at one of the many Samana hotels. “JetBlue’s direct flight to Samana,” he added “will bring new visitors to our Northern Coast, create a stronger economy, and ensure dozens of unique hotels, resorts, shops and diverse attractions and delightful restaurants will receive more visitors.”

Other JetBlue destinations in the Dominican Republic include La Romana, Puerto Plata, Punta Cana, Santiago and Santo Domingo with service to Boston, Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood, New York, Orland and San Juan. Future plans for the airline, announced only two weeks ago, include two more routes linking San Juan with Punta Cana and Santiago.
