Cuba's Nacional Hotel in Havana became host to International Wine Festival

Last Wednesday, the Hotel Nacional de Cuba in Havana inaugurated the 13th edition of the International Wine Festival, a special event that took place over the course of three days in the island’s capital and which was sponsored by the country’s tourism sector.

Promoting not only the island’s wine culture and love of fine wines but also highlighting the appeal of Cuba holidays for wine lovers, this special event sought to bring together wine experts from all over the world in order to highlight this

Focusing on the development of the island’s wine industry while introducing attendants to some of the island’s most experienced, award-winning sommeliers (many of whom work at the best Cuba hotels) and showcasing the finest wines from the world over, the 13th International Wine Festival was successful in promoting Cuba’s wine knowledge.

Having taken place from 3rd to 5th October at Room 1930 in the iconic Nacional hotel, set overlooking Havana’s famous seawall promenade, the wine festival gathered an audience made up of wine producers, connoisseurs and industry experts as well as many companies in the tourism sector.

The hotel's trade specialist Victor Gregory Rosquete said this 13th edition of the Festival was an attempt to combine culinary arts, cigars, liquors and wines, from a cultural, commercial, and traditional standpoint as well as highlighting the appeal of Cuba holidays in Havana.

According to Rosquete, wineries, and traditional production and distribution houses such as Joan Sarda SA, Inversiones Pucara S. A., ITM (Ibero Market Trust), D & B, AICI (Italian-Cuban Chamber of Commerce), among others, were attending the event.

The event gathered a wide range of experts in the world of wine such as mixologists, tasters, producers, distributors, sommeliers, enologists, and business people from different Cuban and foreign companies.

The objective of the festival is to show new products and exchange experiences about the latest trends in culinary arts and especially in the world of wine.

The full programme consisted of blind tastings, conferences, product combinations, and talks by many experts, as well as presentations of products.
