Oman is hoping to receive 12 million local and international tourists a year and the nation is developing its tourism offerings to attract more travellers.

The Sultanate of Oman offers a myriad of stunning landscapes for tourists going on Oman holidays including sweeping sandy beaches and huge sand dunes, majestic mountain ranges, crystal clear turquoise ocean waters and rugged coastline.

The development of new Oman hotels is continuing across the nation and many global hospitality brands are building properties to accommodate the growing number of visitors.

“Oman has a great vision for the future of the tourism. The 2020 vision aims to attract 12 million visitors to the country based on using the new and extended airports and the huge development in the basic infrastructure across the country and development of the basic amenities and locations. This will certainly see fruition as is currently experienced,” stated David Todd, the General Manager of the InterContinental Muscat.

Todd explained that large number of tourists from Europe are considering going on holidays to Oman and the country is experiencing higher visitor arrivals from India and China thanks to the easy visa documentation process.

The General Manager of the Oman Hotel added that the capital city of Muscat is attracting more visitors to the country.

“I think the facilities and amenities found in Muscat are attracting a steady stream of international visitors both for business and leisure. The direction where the country is heading for with regard to tourism is exemplary,” he said.

According to Todd, the InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) is planning to develop new hotels in Oman in the near future with the launch of the Crowne Plaza Muscat, Crowne Plaza Salalah and Crowne Plaza Sohar by next year as well as the Crowne Plaza Duqm and a Holiday Inn in Muscat at a later date.

During holidays in Oman, holidaymakers can walk miles along the Muscat’s beaches and coastline or they can explore the capital’s historic sites and tourist attractions such as the Al Jalali Fort and Al Mirani forts, Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, the Bait az-Zubair Museum and the Qurum National Park.

The shores off the coast of Muscat are teeming with colourful soft and hard corals and hundreds of marine species, while the land boasts pristine sandy beaches, golden deserts, and soaring dunes.

Todd concluded: “It is the quality of hospitality facilities in Oman that has established the country as a different destination to discover something different from other countries in the Gulf region every time they visit the country. For a tourist who is sincerely looking for a break from the humdrum of routine life will find Oman superbly designed for them. What Oman delivers is culture and tradition which is attractive to the visitors as a whole.”
