Hotel Chocolat successfully wows chocoholic holidaymakers with tempting St Lucia holiday experiences
Hotel Chocolat began as a mail order catalogue in 2003 and since then it has opened retail stores in destinations all over the world and now a brand new hotel for St Lucia holidays. Boucan Hotel & Restaurant is located on Hotel Chocolat's agricultural site in St. Lucia so guests can discover the origin of the chocolate during their stay.
Serious chocolate lovers will be familiar with the exclusive brand Hotel Chocolat, which since starting out as a mail order company in 2003, has significantly grown and now gone on to open up retail stores across the UK, the Unites States, Copenhagen and the Netherlands.
In January this year, Hotel Chocolat opened its very first hotel catering to a very special segment of the tourist market going for St Lucia holidays and created a unique "chocoholic" holiday experience where guests are be able to enjoy a luxurious stay while learning about the origin of chocolate.
Boucan Hotel & Restaurant by Hotel Chocolat is located on the chocolate company’s agricultural site Rabot Estate, which is St Lucia’s oldest working cocoa plantation, close to the island’s former capital, Soufriere.

When spending holidays in St Lucia at the 'chocolicious' property, hotel guests can find out how their favourite chocolate is made by taking a tour of the estate and cacao plantations and finding out about the process.
“Forget ‘bean-to-bar’ chocolate making, we’ve moved on to ‘tree-to-bar’ – something that very few chocolate makers in the world could even consider doing,” explained Angus Thirlwell, the CEO of Hotel Chocolat.
The tree-to-bar concept allows guests to explore the cocoa groves, pick cacao pods from the trees, and take the pods through processing stages, where they will end up with their very own piece of delicious handmade chocolate.
The chocolate theme is evident throughout the St Lucia hotel and guests can enjoy chocolatey pampering holidays at the CocoaJuvenate spa. All spa treatments are made in the kitchen of the hotel restaurant, and chocolate is incorporated into each treatment. Holidaymakers can choose from cacao massages, cacao facial, and cacao manicures and pedicures.

Accommodation at the luxury hotel includes six lodges and eight Luxe lodges, all of which come with a daily selection of complimentary chocolates. The detached lodges feature four-poster beds, open sky rainforest showers, and modern technology such as iPod docking stations and complimentary wireless internet. The Luxe Lodges also have private verandas with a double day bed.
The St Lucia hotel’s facilities include Club Boucan’s 50-feet-long black quartz infinity pool where guests can relax and refresh in a private setting. Club Boucan has sun loungers and dedicated Club Stewards who are on hand to serve refreshments.
Boucan also has a restaurant that is set against a natural tropical backdrop and boasts gourmet food with a menu inspired by cacao. Dishes range from fresh seafood and vegetables grown on the estate, to rich chocolate deserts and unique cacao cocktails.
