The long-awaited construction of the Four Seasons hotel in Barbados looks like it will finally commence after the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) announced that it has finally approved US$55 million to finance the project.
The hotel development was put on hold in 2009 due to financial reasons but tourists are now one step closer to being able to enjoy luxury Barbados holidays at the new property after the loan for the hotel’s construction was approved last month.
The property will be called Four Seasons Resort and Private Residences and will be located at Clearwater Bay, on the west coast of the Caribbean island.
Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts are looking to create an environmentally-friendly luxury hotel that will adopt sustainable practices to ensure water and energy is conserved.
The hotel will have 112 guest rooms and suites plus a number of villas and apartments that will be available to buy.

As well as providing the idyllic retreat for holidays in Barbados, the new resort will create hundreds of jobs for local residents.
Furniture companies, artists and local crafters will also have the chance to provide furniture and furnishings for the new Barbados hotel.
The resort will utilise harvested treated rainwater for the irrigation and fire suppression systems and produce from local farmers will be used in the hotel and served to guests.
Barbados is a beautiful Caribbean island situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, north east of Venezuela. It is a hotspot for celebrities such as Simon Cowell, Cliff Richards, and Michael Winner who have all purchased luxury residences on the island.

Tourists can enjoy plenty of activities throughout their Barbados holidays such as sailing, surfing, snorkelling, diving and fishing. Visitors can take excursions to the island’s boutique shops and traditional markets, nature reserves such as the Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary, and traditional towns such as Holetown, Speightstown, and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Bridgetown.
At the end of June, the island’s two-month-long Crop Over festival will begin, attracting travellers from all over the world. Crop Over is a traditional annual harvest festival on the island that features celebrations including singing, dancing, craft markets, food tents, street parties, music, competitions and fireworks.
