Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa unveils the first ever golf course in the Maldives with special offer
Golfing enthusiasts will now be able to enjoy playing the sport during Maldives holidays after Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts opened the island nation's first nine-hole recreational golf course at Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa last month.
The very first golf resort in the Maldives has finally opened its doors to guests giving golfing lovers the chance to play the game in one of the most blissfully idyllic beach destinations in the world.
Shangri-La's Villingili Resort and Spa opened on 27th March, 2012 to the delight of golfers planning Maldives holidays, as they will now have access to a nine-hole recreational golf course which is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes.
Situated on seven and a half hectares of undeveloped land, the golf course was designed by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts and is the first to open in the Maldives.
The course caters for both beginners and avid golf players and is surrounded by exotic plants, palm trees and colourful flora with views overlooking the white sandy beaches and sparkling turquoise Indian Ocean.

The resort is offering a special deal for tourists planning golfing holidays in the Maldives between now and 9th May, 2012. Guests staying for four nights or longer in a Pool Villa, Deluxe Pool Villa, Water Villa, Ocean View Villa or Beach Villa will receive one complimentary green fee for two people. Holidaymakers staying at superior accommodation in a Tree House Villa, Two Bedroom Beach Villa, Villa Muthee or Villa Laalu will also have the daily green fees waived.
Rene D. Egle, the General Manager of Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa, stated: “We are excited to offer a new experience to the Maldives traveller.
“Apart from our other recreational options, the Villingili Golf Course will add a new and unique activity for our guests – a game of golf amid expansive views of the Indian Ocean.”

Guests staying at Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort and Spa will have exclusive use of the golf course during holidays to the Maldives, as well as facilities including a clubhouse, pro shop, shoe and golf equipment hire service, and a refreshment bar. Children taking holidays in the Maldives can also enjoy free golf activities through the resort’s children’s club, the Cool Zone.
The all-villa resort stands out from other luxury Maldives hotels with its unique luxurious beach, ocean and tropical tree house villas.
