Abu Dhabi Hotels Record Highest Ever Number of Visitors
The number of tourists that stayed at hotels during Abu Dhabi holidays hit an all time high in 2011. The emirate's hotels and hotel apartments saw 2,111,611 national and international visitors, a figure that beat the city's original target of two million.
Abu Dhabi is becoming an increasingly popular tourist and business destination and newly-released figures have revealed that last year, the United Arab Emirate received its highest ever number of visitors to its hotels and hotel apartments.
The number of travellers who stayed at hotel properties during Abu Dhabi holidays reached 2,111,611 in 2011; a six per cent increase on its target of two million.
Several new Abu Dhabi hotels have opened up recently and the future looks bright for new properties that are due to open across the city and on Saadiyat Island this year.
The number of guest nights increased by 22 per cent to 6.3 million in 2011, while occupancy levels of hotels in Abu Dhabi were up 7 percent to 69 percent.
Tourists will have plenty of reasons to go on Abu Dhabi holidays this year with the Formula One Grand Prix and concerts by Madonna and Elton John.
Abu Dhabi is the capital of the United Arab Emirates and a popular destination for festivals, sporting events and shopping. Visitors can visit a number of attractions during business trips or holidays in Abu Dhabi, including Khalifa Park, the waterfront, Sheikh Zayed Mosque, the Marina Mall and the Abu Dhabi Mall.
