Over one million visitors take Oman holidays in Salalah

The capital city of Omani province Dhofar, Salalah, has attracted over one million guests for this summer’s Salalah Tourism Festival situated along the coastline in southern Oman. It is well known for attracting vast numbers of tourists due to the enjoyable climate and its natural beauty. Salalah is blessed with mountainous areas full of frankincense trees and magnificent beaches offering superb snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. This has led to Salalah being dubbed ‘the perfume capital of Arabia’ making it a fantastic destination for Oman holidays as proven by the numbers of visitors this summer.

The Salalah Tourist Festival this year has seen both private and governmental involvement, which has reaped a number of benefits. This involvement has meant that there is a wide range of information easily accessible for tourists, and has also meant that tourists have been able to engage in useful communication with travel representatives about the different activities available. This aspect of the festival has been highly beneficial and has really maximised the success of this summer’s tourism festival whilst also being of great assistance for those on their holiday.

The festival itself has been enriched by a vast number of activities being made available during the celebrations. This summer’s festival has seen a number of high class theatre shows being performed, live exhibitions as well as activities ranging from recreational sports to cultural and religious lectures and seminars. The Municipality Recreation Centre was a key aspect to the success of the festival, and one of the most notable exhibitions it held was ‘Oman, the Land of Friendship and Peace’. The Al Morooj amphitheatre was also an interesting experience as it provided live cultural singing and poetry nights. The vast number of activities available for all age groups was a fantastic experience for those enjoying holidays in Oman in the city of Salalah.

The Royal Oman Police service was present at all festival events to ensure the safety of tourists. The Police conducted a number of other roles including managing traffic. In addition to this, a number of Oman hotels located in Salalah, (including Hilton, Crowne Plaza and Marriott Mirbat) teamed up with Oman Air to offer fantastic promotions, which this year maximised the amount of people taking Oman holidays.
