Reaching the peak of this nearly 4,000-feet-long volcano is a great challenge for hikers and an unforgettable experience for tourists who seek adventure whilst enjoying St Kitts holidays.

The hike up this inactive volcano is a reasonably long one, taking approximately 3 hours each way. However, the incredible abundance of the greenest vegetation (including banyan, viper, fern and bamboo trees) as well as the sight of the most amazing wildlife on the way up is a gratifying reward for the climbers. This trip is another exciting feature for tourists taking holidays in St Kitts.

However fun and rewarding this hike may be, climbers are reminded to always be assisted by an experienced guide, given that some of the slopes and pathways can be very steep and treacherous.

Oneil Mulraine, 63, is a famous guide/herbalist of the island. This surprisingly energetic man climbs the volcano in a record of 45 minutes each way and is more than happy to assist clients enjoying Caribbean holidays, in this speedy hike up, at the price of $90 per person.

Mount Liamuiga is a fairly young stratovolcano located in the North West Range of St Kitts, reaching the height of 3,792 feet above sea level. The volcano has had four Holocene (present geographical age) eruptions and two unconfirmed eruptions in 1692 and 1843. The prehistoric eruptions range from 2320 BC to 150 AD.

Saba and St Eustatius are visible to the northeast, and St Maarten, St Barts and Anguilla to the north.
