Trinidad and Tobago hosts Caribbean's First Special Events and Meetings Expo

Trinidad and Tobago will be hosting the first ever Caribbean Special Events and Meetings Expo (TCSEME) which will take place on 6th and 7th August, 2011 at the Banquet and Conference Centre of MovieTowne, Port-of-Spain in Trinidad.

Event professionals and industry suppliers will gather at the complex where they will be able to receive information from exhibitors across the event management industry and gain access to a wide database of event companies, suppliers and management services.

The event is expected to attract visitors from all areas of the events industry including event planners, marketing and PR professionals, executives, entertainers and managers. During the event visitors will also be able to take advantage of the Caribbean island’s tourism offerings that make it such a popular destination for Trinidad and Tobago holidays.

Organised by Event Management Institute (EMI) Caribbean Ltd, the event is expected to promote the position of the island nation as a top destination for business tourism as well as Caribbean holiday destination for leisure travellers.

Francola John, founder and managing director of EMI Caribbean Ltd, explained: “Trinidad and Tobago is positioning itself to be the meetings and conference capital of the region. We all have a part to play in ensuring that we promote our twin island as the place to meet both for business and for leisure. This requires us to be innovative and creative.

As is done in other parts of the world such as US, Canada and Europe, TCSEME aims to be the catalyst to generate economic growth in the Caribbean region, in what is a billion dollar industry.

“TCSEME exhibitors will be showcasing the latest event products and services such as lighting, decor, staging, gifts and giveaways, creative services, entertainment, catering ware, florals and so much more. "

She added: “You will meet and connect with suppliers, and find innovative ways to make your events more exciting, more effective and more affordable.”

The nation of Trinidad and Tobago is a popular destination for Caribbean holidays due to its beautiful sandy beaches, warm turquoise ocean waters, mountains, and dense lush green forests and rolling hills.

During Trinidad and Tobago holidays, travellers can enjoy tours to the natural coral reef of Buccoo Reef, Caroni Bird Sanctuary, the Emperor Valley Zoo and Botanical Gardens or Fort George; participate in festivals including Divali, the Hindu festival of lights or the Tobago heritage festival; and take part in activities such as golf, snorkelling, scuba diving, sailing and horse riding.

The islands are home to an array of luxurious Trinidad and Tobago hotels, gourmet restaurants and a vibrant nightlife scene.
