KTB road shows promote Kenya holidays in the UK
Last week's Kenya Tourist Board road show saw a record number of agents and travel operators attending the events which promoted Kenya holidays in venues across different United Kingdom cities including Dublin, Manchester and London.
Over the past week Kenya holidays have been promoted throughout the UK and Ireland during the Kenya Tourist Board (KTB) road show. The road show visited main cities such as Dublin, Manchester and London last week and saw the attendance of a record number of travel agents and tour operators who were keen on seeing the latest offerings for holidays to Kenya.
Travel trade guests battled it out in "The Big Kenya Quiz" which tested their knowledge on the East African country and at the end of the evening, a winner from each city that hosted the road show was awarded the grand prize of a holiday to Kenya. Runner-up guests received prizes including places on a Kenya Tourist Board fam trip in November; copies of Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman’s African adventure, Long Way Down; and novelty “booby prize” gifts which were awarded by Kenya Airways.
According to the Kenya Tourist Board Director for the United Kingdom, Angie Sloan, visitor arrivals to Kenya during the first quarter of the year have increased by 10 per cent each year and the road shows are expected to further boost the number of travellers booking Kenya holidays.
“The past two years have been tough for the travel industry and despite so many destinations reporting negative growth Kenya has bucked that trend with steady growth in 2009, 2010 and the first quarter of 2011,” she said.
“We hope this week's events and future fam trips we have planned in 2011 will further help the trade to convert all the interest into sales.”
Kenya is a country located in East Africa which boasts beautiful white sand beaches fringed with the shores of the sparkling Indian Ocean; numerous nature parks thriving with wildlife that includes giraffes, lions, rhinos, elephants , leopards and wildebeest; and the majestic snow-capped Mount Kenya.
