The Caribbean has always been a popular choice for exotic holidays in the sun, but Antigua holidays are amongst the favourites for many travellers and it's no wonder with natural scenery comprising uncrowded pristine white beaches and warm azure waters.

When you think of the Caribbean, islands such as Jamaica, St Lucia and Barbados are often the first which spring to mind but as the tropical region becomes more accessible to travellers; many tourists are choosing Antigua holidays for their relaxing breaks.

Antigua is the largest of the twin-island nation of Antigua and Barbuda situated in the West Indies. The island boasts natural scenery which is typical of the Caribbean: white sand palm-fringed beaches, warm turquoise ocean waters, and lush forests and landscapes. One of the advantages of taking holidays in Antigua is that the island is much less crowded than its neighbours so tourist can enjoy a relaxing and tranquil Caribbean break.

During Antigua holidays visitors can enjoy a wide selection of activities such as sailing, kayaking, yacht charters, and hiking. The island's surrounding crystal clear waters offer ideal conditions for snorkelling and scuba diving activities, particularly on the eastern side of the island where divers will have the chance to spot an array of marine species ranging from colourful flora and fauna, to barracudas and sea turtles.

Tourists who want to enjoy some retail therapy during their Caribbean holidays can choose from high end boutiques to local shops and markets where they can pick up beautiful hand crafted souvenirs and Caribbean clothing.

There are plenty of historical and nature sites to explore on the island including St John's Cathedral in the city of St John, the Museum of Antigua and Barbuda, Nelson's Dockyard National Park, Sir Viv Richards Cricket Ground, English harbour, the Bethesda Tamarind Tree, and Devils Bridge.

The island boasts a selection of accommodation ranging from boutique luxury beachfront Antigua hotels with ocean views and tropical gardens, small guest houses, family-friendly resorts and luxury villas and charming cottages.

Antigua's sister island, Barbuda, is situated 30km north and is a smaller flat coral island. Barbuda is an excellent place to spot birds in their natural habitat due to the island's Frigate Bird Sanctuary and is offers tranquil remote surroundings.
