The International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin is due to start on Wednesday 9th March, 2011 and will be attended by Tourism Minister, Francisco Javier Garcia, who will use the event to network with companies and promote Dominican Republic holidays.

Berlin International Tourism Fair to Showcase Dominican Republic Holidays

The Dominican Republic Tourism Minister, Francisco Javier Garcia, has announced that he will be attended this year’s International Tourism Bourse (ITB) in Berlin and will use it as a backdrop to network with companies who can provide services to the Dominican Republic holidays industry.

The Caribbean island nation recorded 4.1 million tourists taking holidays in the Dominican Republic in 2010, which brought over US$4 billion to the national economy.

Mr Garcia said: “This scenario, which gathers around 180,000 visitors and more than 11,000 exhibitors, is not only the perfect platform for the country to continue touting its qualities in front of international window shoppers; it’s also a business centre to renew and materialize agreements with this sector’s leaders.”

The Tourism Minister is looking to discuss agreements with tour companies, airlines and travel agencies who will contribute towards the island’s tourism sector and enhance the experience for travellers enjoying holidays to Dominican Republic.

This year, the country will showcase Dominican Republic holidays from a 300-square-metre pavilion which will feature the country’s enchantments and diversity, tourist attractions, and a collection of Dominican Republic hotels.

Garcia is expected to meet with top executives of airlines which provide flights to Dominican Republic to discuss the rising fuel costs and other pressing topics.

This year’s International Tourism Bourse will be held in Berlin’s Messe Convention Centre from 9th March to 13th March and will be attended by representatives of major companies including destinations, tour operators, booking systems, carriers, and hotels, from across 187 countries worldwide.

The Dominican Republic stand will include representatives from the Banco Popular Dominicano, Playa Dorada Hotels Association, Punta Cana International Airport, Punta Cana Resorts, Scotiabank, AMSA Marina Hotels & Resorts, Hard Rock Hotel, Hospitality Chorale, Viva Wyndham Resorts, Casa de Campo, and many more.

Trade visitors will be able to attend the International Tourism Bourse from between 10am and 6pm during the five-day event and the fair will opens its doors to members of the general public between 10 am and 6pm on 12th and 13th March.
