Adonis Tulum welcomes gay couples on Cancun holidays

A new hotel is scheduled to open for travellers seeking gay-friendly Cancun holidays and will be the first of its kind in the state of Quintana Roo.

The Adonis Tulum is situated two hours from the centre of Cancun and 30 miles from the vibrant city of Playa del Carmen in Riviera Maya. The luxury holiday resort in Cancun is just a five minute drive from the historical Mayan ruins and surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes.

Gay travellers seeking accommodation for the holiday in Cancun will receive a warm welcome from staff at the Adonis Tulum where they enjoy luxury upscale accommodation and facilities.

The hotel offers 94 rooms and suites which feature private terraces or balconies, local mahogany furnishings, and modern amenities including DVD players, LCD televisions, iPods, mini-bars, Mayan-style rainfall showers, twin sinks, luxury spa tubs, and soft bathrobes.

Guests can enjoy gourmet cuisine within several restaurants including traditional Mexican dishes at El Nopal, Italian specialities at il Sorpasso, Asian delicacies at Kamasutra, and international flavours at Globe. A range of zingy and fruity cocktails are available at the Sprit Bar and Swim-up Pool Bar.

The luxury Riviera Maya hotel also features a sumptuous spa which offers guests a selection of rejuvenating and relaxing treatments and massages during their Cancun holidays.

The General Director of Adonis Tulum, Patrick Lurenz, said it would be exclusively available for homosexual couples and will feature fully trained staff.

He explained: "It seems to me that it's positive that in Mexico there is an opening for homosexuals. Finally we're talking about human beings who pay taxes, who create companies. I hope that some day unions between same-sex couples will be a federal law and not just on the state level."

All of the states throughout Mexico now recognise the marriages between gay and lesbian couples after the ceremonies were legalised in December last year.
