Oman Ministry of Tourism promote Oman Holidays to potential India holiday-makers

During this month Oman holidays are being promoted by the Ministry of Tourism of the Sultanate of Oman to Indian travellers as they work closely with Bahwan Tours and Island Holidays with a number of road shows in Mumbai and New Delhi.

The aim of the road shows was to educate the Indian travel trade on Oman tourism and Oman hotels, whilst promoting twin centre holidays combining Oman and India to travellers from all over the world.

The road shows in New Delhi and Mumbai were attended by 12 members who represented travel and tour companies within the Oman holidays sector including Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Majan Continental Hotel, Bahwan Tours and the national airline, Oman Air.

India's representative of Bahwan Tours, Island Holidays, is planning to open new offices in New Delhi to help promote Oman holidays to Indian residents.

The Ministry of Tourism in Oman is looking to promote the country as a leisure destination for families, and FIT and MICE travellers from India.

India's representative of the Oman's Ministry of Tourism, Lubaina Sheerazi, explains that if the Middle East country is to strengthen trade and tourism relationships with India, Oman must carry out a series of programmes to raise awareness through advertisements and road shows in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, and Bengaluru, with plans to organise FAM trips for the travel industry in January 2011.

Promotional activities which are in the pipeline to promote Oman as a tourist destination to Indian travellers will coincide with the celebrations of the 40 year anniversary of the ruling of Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said of Oman and will include fashion shows, food festivals, music and sports events. Events include the Muscat Asian Beach Games which will be taking place from 8th to 12th December 2010; Oman's debut Food Festival from 3rd- 17th February 2011; and Fashion Week from 22nd to 25th February 2011; the World Sailing Championships from 20th to 24th February; and the Tour of Oman cycling race which will include appearances from 120 famous names from the Tour de France which will be taking place from 15th to 20th February 2011.
