St. Kitts' 10th Annual Tourism Awards banquet honours holiday industry stars
The UNESCO Heritage Site, Brimstone Hill National Park and Fortress, hosted the 10th Annual Tourism Awards Banquet on 23rd October 2010 to honour tourism businesses and their contribution towards providing excellent St. Kitts holidays.
The 10th Annual Tourism Awards Banquet was held on 23rd October 2010 at the beautiful Brimstone Hill National Park and Fortress to celebrate the success of St. Kitts holidays and honour the tourism businesses that have made a positive impact on the development of the real estate and tourism industry on the Caribbean island.
The event was jointly organised by the St. Kitts Tourism Authority and the Ministry of Tourism and International Transport and took place at the historic UNESCO World Heritage Site which was designed by British military engineers and constructed and looked after by African slaves.
Local businesses and individuals received awards for their contribution towards successful tourism and enhancing the experience of St. Kitts holidays for travellers from all over the world. Hotel of the Year was awarded to the Nisbet Plantation Beach Club, and the Restaurant of the Year was awarded to The Spice Mill.
St. Kitts is a popular destination for travellers seeking tranquil Caribbean holidays amid breathtaking natural scenery. Over recent years, the island has shifted from its historic sugar plantation economy into the tourism sector, with an increase in St. Kitts hotels and luxury real estate being built.
The island is popular with tourists who are keen to explore the idyllic Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park and take part in numerous water sports; cricket enthusiasts who come to visit the Warner Park Cricket Stadium; and students who attend the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, Windsor University School of Medicine; and the International University of Health Sciences.
The St. Kitts Annual Tourism Awards Banquet takes part every year during St. Kitts Tourism Month, which holds a series of events and activities throughout October to promote St. Kitts as a tourist and holiday destination in the Caribbean. This year's event features the Heritage Treasure Hunt, a Marketplace and a fashion show.
