Dr. Ewart Premier Brown has been honoured with the prestigious World Leadership Award by the Caribbean Media Exchange for Sustainable Tourism on Sunday 4th October 2010 for his efforts in promoting Caribbean holidays and sustainable tourism.
The Minister of Tourism for Bermuda, Dr. Ewart Premium Brown has received the highest honour from the 19th Caribbean Media Exchange on Sustainable Tourism (CMEx), The World leadership Award in Kingston, Jamaica on 4th October 2010.
The award was given to Dr. Brown for his hard work and efforts in sustainable tourism and development within the Caribbean holidays and travel sector, and inspiring others to continue these efforts.
Dr. Brown said: "I am humbled and deeply gratified to be selected as a recipient of the CMEx 2010 World Leadership Award. In Bermuda, we have made tremendous strides to revive our once moribund tourism industry. From targeting new air carriers to improving existing hotel properties and attracting new properties to our island, we have begun a tourism turnaround that will continue for years to come."
After previously attending St. Jago high school in Jamaica, Dr. Ewart was delighted that the CMEx was hosted in Kingston. He continued: "To accept this award in Jamaica is particularly rewarding as their leadership on tourism is one that has inspired many throughout the region. It is also personally significant, as Jamaica is the country where I attended high school and spent many of my formative years."
The Minister of Tourism has helped promote Bermuda holidays and Caribbean holidays to the rest of the world and he urged Caribbean neighbours to Bermuda to build on their traditional ties to the beautiful island.
"While Bermuda is separated from our regional partners by a vast ocean, we are deeply connected through historical, social and familial ties. We have much to learn from each other and we are proud of the leadership displayed throughout the region to develop tourism models that are innovative, resourceful and successful," he added.
Bermuda is situated in the North Atlantic Ocean and is made up of beautiful pink beaches, turquoise waters, and thriving nature parks. The sub tropical climate and surrounding coral reef attracts thousands of visitors each year on holidays in Bermuda and the island is home to some of the best diving sites in the world.
