Cuesta's "Pride of my Land" highlights pedernales and Barahona holidays
The second corporative project of the Cuesta group, "Pride of my Land", was launched earlier this week and highlighted the provinces of Barahona and Pedernales as alternative destinations for Dominican Republic holidays.
"Pride of my Land", the second corporative project carried out by the Cuesta Group was launched earlier this week at the Casa San Pablo auditorium and invited guests to discover the delights of tourism, food and inhabitants of the south-western provinces of Barahona and Pedernales.
The project was displayed to strengthen national self-esteem and highlight the regions as additional destinations for Dominican Republic holidays for travellers.
President of the Cuesta Group, Jose Miguel Gonzalez, said: "We want to make of this project a reason to mobilize us internally, entering in every corner of the country and each Dominican heart, millions of reasons to reaffirm our sense of belonging."
The project featured the displays of two photo albums concentrating on both provinces, and documentaries which were screened to pay tribute to the heart of each region. Cuesta's project will also be used for educational purposes and will allow universities and schools to use the materials to learn about the regions and their undiscovered treasures.
Barahona is home to an array of beautiful lakes, mountains, beaches and three natural parks which are rich in species and vegetation. Travellers on Barahona holidays can enjoy trekking through these parks whilst catching sightings of over 60 bird species including flamingos at the Parque National Jaraqua; crocodiles at the Parque National Isla Cabritos; and the Larimar mines within the Parque Nacional Sierra de Baoruco.
The region is home to only a few Dominican Republic hotels and most of the travellers are from the Caribbean island or avid nature enthusiasts enjoying Dominican Republic holidays.
Pedernales is the southernmost province of the Dominican Republic and lies alongside Barahona by the Parque National Jaraqua and the Parque Nacional Sierra de Baoruco. The province borders Haiti and features stunning white powder sand beaches which are popular with tourists seeking idyllic beach holidays in the Dominican Republic.
Guests who attended the launch of the Cuesta project on 6th July included the painter Ramon Oviedo; Bienvenido Perez who has protected species faced with extinction for over 30 years; and Mario Vilomar, the environmentalist.
