Special event promoting holidays in the Cayman Islands was hosted by British Consul General

An unexpected promotional event showcasing Cayman Islands holidays was the result of a recent visit by Dr. Philip Budden, British Consul General of Boston, and his family as they returned from their Caribbean holidays in Grand Cayman last year and were so enamoured with the island that they wanted to share it with the Council members, all of which are top leaders of the legal, finance and energy industries in Boston, Massachusetts. As a result of the Budden family’s enthusiasm, Cayman Islands’ Department of Tourism took the opportunity to further promote the Caribbean nation’s unique appeal and decided to host a reception for 70 guests, including the members of the British American Business Council, in the private home of Dr. Budden. The outcome was a warm gathering celebrating Caribbean holidays in the Cayman Islands with a varied host of guests in Grand Cayman’s travel and tourism industry, including various representatives from major Cayman Islands hotels.

The event was a culmination of efforts to educate attendees and future guests or travellers heading for Caribbean holidays in the Cayman Islands on the many great natural attributes of this Caribbean destination, enhanced by the Consul General’s own personal experience when visiting the islands. Such an event also marked an important opportunity for partners of the Cayman Islands holiday and travel industry to mingle with guests and further encourage them to choose the Cayman Islands for their future Caribbean holidays.

Some of Cayman Islands’ main industry players attending the reception included: Wendy Bolz, Cayman Connection; Melanie Alexander, Coral Stone Club; Anne Hemion, Ritz-Carlton; Michael Chisholm, West Indies Management; Tina Dutko, US Airways; Lynne Carroll and Paul Swartz, American Airlines; Ted Petersen, Boston Globe; Randy Hano, Boston Magazine; and Kathy Rochefort, Improper Bostonian Magazine, as some of the islands’ most influential players in the travel and tourism sector.
