Jamaica holidays have a brand new face to represent the island, and it goes complete with the fastest legs in the world. Usain Bolt, the world’s fastest man and sprinting Jamaica superstar is set to begin filming a series of TV ads promoting Jamaica holidays.
The sports start will be featuring in various TV commercial advertisements as part of Jamaica’s “Once You Go, You Know” campaign that promotes Jamaica holidays to appeal to discerning travellers and attract the attention of holidaymakers in the United States.
Winner of three gold medals at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing and three gold medals at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, Usain Bolt will appear in a series of 30-second TV ads that will air in key U.S. markets in February and March.
The first commercials will feature Bolt running throughout Jamaica, but doesn’t make much progress because he pauses to take in the view after every few steps. In this way watchers will be able to take glimpses of all the beauty that can be witnessed on Jamaica holidays.
In “Speed,” the second commercial, he runs past a series of landscapes to the song “One Love”. And in the third, called “Pose,” a series of everyday Jamaicans imitating his famous “lightning bolt” pose.
“The campaign is just planned for television, but it could be developed into a print campaign later on.”- explained Jamaica’s Director of Tourism.
“He was more than happy to show off his home to the world,” Lynch said. “He is a proud son of Jamaica.”
Increased airlift and new Jamaica hotels coming on line will boost Jamaica’s tourism product in the critical peak season, he then added.
“We’re anticipating a pretty good winter season. We’ll have an increase over last winter. Our visitor numbers were down for the first six months of 2009, but we picked up after that, and the picture became more positive.”- he concluded.
