Reforesting Cuba holidays continues to be a top priority
The demand for ecological Cuba holidays at some of the island’s greenest places and main sites of natural riches, has been increasing over the last few years, and in order to properly cater to this eco-holiday market boom, Cuba holidays have had to step up in the conservation and preservation of its natural resources, especially when it comes to the reforestation of its forests.
Currently Cuba has 25.7 % of the island’s area dotted with trees after having successfully reforested over 135,907 acres in 2009, according to Agriculture Ministry's forest director Carlos Diaz’s declaration on his report
This signals to a total of almost 100 million new trees having been planted last year, highlighted the also secretary of the Committee on Reforestation Systems told the National News Agency.
Plans for the improvement of Cuba holidays’ eco-appeal with a greener island by 2010 include the plantation of a further165,560 acres. This will be gradually increased until reaching 29.3 percent in a five-year period, Diaz stated.
Regardless of what the country has already lost in terms of deforestation over the years (as a cause of industrial action), nevertheless Cuba holidays enjoy a privileged position as with its current wooded area the island is one of the few countries in the world and the first in Latin America that has been increasing their forest size for the last 50 years.
