Sky-high Dubai holidays with World's tallest building finally Opened
Good news for travellers who want to enjoy sky-high Dubai holidays at the newest wonder of the world! The tallest building in the world is finally ready for inspection and has opened its doors to welcome guests of all ages and all interests at this multi-functional complex which includes the first ever Armani hotel, office space, residential apartments, a restaurant, a gym and a nightclub on the 144th.
Amidst a sea of smoke, anticipation and much speculation the Burj Dubai tower - now renamed Burj Khalifa after the UAE President and ruler of Abu Dhabi - was finally ready to welcome visitors after its inauguration ceremony yesterday where the secret about its exact final height was revealed.
A select crowd of 6,000 were expected to attend the glorious ceremony, where Dubai’s ruler, Sheik Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum was expected to make a triumphal ascent of the 169-floor spire-shaped tower, which stands out as Dubai’s most remarkable architectural achievement yet and now becomes one of Dubai holidays’ top attractions.
The Burj, which means Tower, reaches such a lofty height that a new word has been coined to describe its magnitude: “superscraper”, which can be seen over 60 miles away in neighbouring Iran.
The flagship mega-project of Emaar Properties is believed was revealed to have a total height of 828m and dwarfs what was previously the world’s tallest building. It overshadows the 508m Taipei 101 in Taiwan, as well as the world’s tallest manmade structure, the 629m KVLY-TV mast in North Dakota while also being twice the size of the Empire State Building.
For awe-inspiring Dubai holidays in which the traveller can instantly admire its beauty while strolling along, the Burj Dubai exterior is covered in about 26,000 glass panels – enough to cover 17 football pitches. The building is so high the temperature is roughly 10C cooler at the zenith than at the base.
Chairman of Emaar Properties, Mohamed Alabbar, said Burj Dubai was “another demonstration of Dubai’s ability to achieve what few people thought possible”.
“The tower is a global icon,” he continued. “It represents the determination and optimism of Dubai as a truly world city. It is a powerful symbol for the entire Arab world.”
“We weren’t sure how high we could go, it was kind of an exploration ... a learning experience.” - added Bill Baker, the building’s structural engineer.
Around 12,000 people are expected to live and work in the tower which is part of a 500-acre development known as “downtown” Burj Khalifa, and many others will be taking deluxe Dubai holidays at the tower’s ultra luxurious Armani hotel.
Burj Dubai’s final height breaks at least 15 world records, including the tallest structure ever built, the tallest building with residential space, the world’s highest swimming pool (76th floor), highest observation deck (124th) and the most elevated place of worship – a mosque (158th).
