Next 15th January 2010 The Maldives will be under direct line of the eclipse, giving guests the clearest possible view across the world for the 10-minute spectacle. Accordingly, Soneva Fushi’s three-day eclipse package will start the 13th January, continuing over 3 days of fun astronomical activities and culminating shortly after the eclipse experience. Maldives holidays during these dates will feature great activities designed as an add-on to any existing resort stay.
Part of the starry package includes stargazing tutorials from the Soneva Fushi sandbank in the middle of the Indian Ocean with Dr. Parag Mahajani, who was employed by Six Senses to help with the original design of the Soneva Fushi Observatory. An astrophysical astronomer with over 18 years of experience in astronomy popularisation and research, he will provide guests on Maldives holidays during this time with guidance and insight into the eclipse.
Priced at around at $888 per person the outstanding astronomical package is an added supplement to accommodation bookings of all room types and can also be combined with extended stays for travellers who want longer Maldives holidays. The program of activities to be enjoyed as part of the eclipse package goes as follows:
“Start the day with a yoga sun salutation on Palm beach, followed by breakfast at the Restaurant or in the comfort of your own villa. From 12 - 1pm head to the beautiful Organic Garden where resident Solar Enthusiast, Jorley Mathews will discuss and explain the phenomenon of the eclipse, after which guests can head to Palm beach to enjoy the actual eclipse (due to occur at 1:30pm for 11 minutes) with a glass of champagne and the gentle sounds of Bodu-Beru music. Lunch at the Overwater Bar will be hosted by Jorley Mathews followed by an 'after-sun' spa treatment and later, a Peruvian-Japanese dinner at Senses by the Sea. Guests will receive a special gift to commemorate the occasion”
Bookable for 3 nights, the package includes accommodation in a villa, with a personal butler; Première Cuvée Champagne, a bottle of Nicolas Feuilatte Brut and Maldivian savouries on arrival; a wellness consultation; a 25-minute mint soother foot treatment breakfast daily; a sunset cocktail in an over-water setting with a champagne cocktail, canapés and more.
