Virgin Atlantic wins Tomorrow Innovation Award for sustainable tourism

After officially committing to invest in sustainable tourism with its "Change the Air" programme, Virgin Atlantic has received recognition for its innovative approach to sustainable onboard catering. The carrier won the WTTC Tourism for Tomorrow Innovation Award during the prize-giving ceremony celebrated last month in Buenos Aires.

Virgin Atlantic launches two new reward credit cards

Virgin Atlantic is now offering two new reward credit cards. The Virgin Atlantic Reward card has no annual fee and offers .075 miles for every £1 spent. The Virgin Atlantic Reward+ credit card comes with a £160 fee, but offers 1.5 miles per £1 spent. Points earned through the cards can be used for flights, upgrades, and companion tickets.

Virgin Atlantic named Best European Airline in TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Awards 2018

Just a few days ago TripAdvisor released its official list of winners in the airline category of the Travelers' Choice Awards 2018, in which Virgin Atlantic scooped up the title of Best Major Airline in Europe. Ranked number one by the community of TripAdvisor's members, the British carrier also won the title of Best Premium Economy in Europe and as such has been crowned the top airline in the continent, beating big rivals like British Airways, KLM and Lufthansa.

Virgin Atlantic launches second daily service to Johannesburg

Virgin Atlantic recently announced that it will offer a second daily flight from London Heathrow to Johannesburg. The new flights went on sale in late March and the service will begin flying in winter 2018. With two flights per day to Johannesburg, Virgin Atlantic expects to carry more than 300,000 passengers annually.

Virgin returns to Australia after four years

Four years after discontinuing flights from London to Australia, Virgin Atlantic announced that it will resume flights to Sydney and Melbourne. The flights, which will connect in Los Angeles or Hong Kong, will begin later this month. The announcement comes on the heels of a disappointing year for the airline, which experienced a decrease in profits in 2017.
