Step away from the bustling beaches and popular tourist resorts of Bali and take yourself on a unique adventure discovering the tropical beauty and rich heritage that can be found on the island of Flores. Known more for its famous neighbours, the Komodo dragons, Flores own stunning natural beauty and unique culture can sometimes be overlooked as a stopover on the way to the National Park, but with this tour, it comes into its own!
/> Through your adventure you can meet the local tribesmen and learn of the deep traditions that they still live by today as well as watching local life play out in a place where modern culture has not quite reached. Wake up to a magical sunrise over the fascinating three lakes of Kelimutu and look out for wild macaws as the mist crawls along the surface of the stunning Ranamese Lake before ending the adventure in the city of Labuan Bajo.

Day 1: Travel to Moni via Wolotopo
After arriving at Ende airport in the morning, you will be met by your English speaking guide, ready to begin your Indonesian adventure!
The tour begins with a scenic journey to village of Moni where you can end with a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.
Along the way you’ll have the chance to stop at Wolotopo (road conditionings permitting), where you can meet the welcoming faces of the Lionese people. Wolotopo is a charming hillside village where the members of the traditional Lio tribe still stick strongly to their rich heritage. During your stop you will be able to watch local life in the village and learn of local activities including ‘ikat’ weaving, a complicated technique renowned in this part of the world.
After checking in and enjoying lunch, the rest of the day is at your leisure to explore Moni village, a small hillside village with stunning views out across the surrounding area.

Day 2: Sunrise at Kelimutu and onto Bajawa
This morning it is a very early start, but one that will definitely be worthwhile! Starting the day at approximately 04:30, you can enjoy a short drive and easy walk through the local woodland before arriving at the famous ‘three coloured lakes’ of the Kelimutu volcano where you’ll be just in time for the jaw-dropping sunrise over the entire landscape.
Once you’re appetite gets the better of you it’s time to return to your lodge for breakfast before setting off on the next part of your adventure.
En route to Bajawa there will be plenty of pit stops to take in the local sites, beginning with a stop at Nduaria market as well as the picturesque rice terraces of Detusoko before stopping for lunch at a local restaurant.
The final stop before Bajawa is the picturesque Penggaiawa Beach, located on the southern coast of Flores island. Enjoy the fresh sea breeze and the stunning beach with its volcanic black sands and blue-hued pebbles it is renowned for.
Finish your day in the small town of Bajawa for your overnight stay.

Day 3: Discover the local area en-route to Ruteng
Start the day with a trip to the traditional village of Bena. Famous in the area for its traditional housing and megalith-structured shrines in the village centre, the village gives you an insight into the rich heritage which is still heavily embedded in the local Ngada culture today. You can explore the two shrines in the centre of the village – ‘ngadhu’ and ‘bhaga’ which represent the two clans and honours their ancestors, as well as wondering amongst the traditional high thatched-roofed houses and admiring the stunning panoramic views from the edge of the village.
Carry on the journey to Ruteng via the region of Aimere where you may see people producing palm wine, the local Florinese drink, with lunch at a local restaurant along the way.
In the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to visit Ranamese Lake with its mystical layer of fog often seeing hovering above. At an altitude of 1,220 metres this natural mountain reserve is the perfect place to enjoy the tranquillity of the area whilst watching out for colourful birds including wild macaws.
The final stop of the day is the limestone cave at Liang Bua, made famous in 2003 by the discovery of the ‘Homo Floresiensis’, a new species of homo genus that has been nicknamed the ‘Hobbit man of Flores’.

Day 4: Spectacular scenery en-route to Labuan Bajo
After breakfast, head for the western-most part of Flores Island where you’ll find the city of Labuan Bajo.
En-route you can visit the village of Ruteng Pu’u, one of the best places to see a traditional ‘compang’, the central venue for ceremonies and rituals in the village.
Continue on to Cara Village, for spectacular views out across the traditional rice fields where you can see the unique spiders-web pattern of the fields, know to locals as ‘lingko’ fields.
Prior to arriving in Labuan Bajo you can enjoy lunch in a local restaurant before exploring Batu Cermin, aptly named the ‘Mirror Cave’ with the light that reflects off the walls, where you can enjoy exploring the local area home to long-tailed monkeys and wild boar.

Day 5: Komodo Dragon National Park
Today’s excitement takes you to meet the ancient inhabitants of the Komodo National Park! Begin with a trip sailing to Rinca Island where you can find a whole host of wildlife including deer, horses, pigs and of course the famous Komodo dragon. Be warned though! These creatures may look slow and cumbersome but they can run up to 18kmh with deadly venom, and so take caution whilst listening to your guides instructions.
Once you’ve explored the island, it’s time to carry on to Kalong Island where you can explore the extensive mangrove forests and home to thousands of bats.
On your way back to the hotel to can make a stop at the idyllic Bidadari island (Angel Island) where you can snorkel.

Spend the rest of the evening relaxing at the hotel or exploring the area.

Day 6: Leisure in Labuan Bajo before departure
Enjoy your final day on the island at leisure before your transfer to Labuan Bajo airport for your onward flight
