Overview

Day 01 - Negombo On arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport, you will be met by your English Speaking chauffeur guide and transferred to Negombo.
(Airport to Negombo approximately ½ hour / 15 Km) Check in to the hotel.

  • Explore the jewels of Kandy Visit the Temple of the Tooth, a Kandyan Cultural Dance Show as well as a day trip to Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
  • Jeep Safari at Minneriya National Park An incredible place to observe the elephants who come to bathe and graze, as well as the huge flocks of birds (cormorants and painted storks to name but a few) that come to fish in the shallow waters
  • Visit To The Dambulla Cave Temple This temple is a perfect location to view evolution of ancient Sri Lankan art and is an important historical site due to the amalgamation of the material from many eras

Day 02 - Habarana

Today you will travel to Habarana, En-route you will visit the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage
A venture initiated by the Sri Lankan Government to safe guard one of its National Treasures, the Pinnawela Elephant Orphanage has been operating for over 30 years, nurturing orphaned calves, treating the feeble and rehabilitating the injured. Today, the orphanage has 60 elephants, with hundred watching their antics during their bathing times!! It is a definite treat watching them frolic in the water and observe the unique characteristics of each and every one of Sri Lanka's gentle giants! The ideal time to watch them is
1000hrs-1200hrs and 1400hrs-1600hrs

(Colombo to Habarana approximately 4 hours / 175 Km)

Afterwards proceed to Sigiriya to visit the Lion Rock, one of the seven World Heritage sites of the island.
Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress and ruins of a castle, which was once the home to King Kasyapa. The entrance to the original fortress was through the mouth of a lion, however the ravages of time has resulted with only a part of the massive paws remaining today. A testament to ancient artistry and architectural ingenuity - Sigiriya has many attractions to its visitors - its gardens (boulder, water & terraced), its artistry (the world renowned frescos), the mirror wall and the dramatic
history linked to the construction of the Lion Rock. An original Lost City, Sigiriya is a must see in any visit to the Cultural Triangle.

Day 03 - Habarana

Today you will go to Polonnaruwa to visit The Medieval Capital of Polonnaruwa
Polonnaruwa - this medieval city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, rose to fame as the capital (10th - 12th century AD) after the decline of Anuradhapura. The entire landscape of the region is punctuated by huge man-made reservoirs, the most famous of which is the Parakrama Samudra or the Sea of Parakrama, larger in size than the Colombo harbour. The monuments are relatively well preserved and give clear evidence of the glory of Sri Lanka's past. Highlights are the Royal Palace complex including the Kings Palace and Audience Hall, the Quadrangle with its concentration of ancient
heritage and the spectacular Gal Vihare complex of four massive images of the Buddha, cut from a single slab of granite - a highlight of ancient Sri Lankan rock carving. Some of the best examples of the Hindu influence - the Temples of Shiva, intricate statues of Hindu Gods, fascinating Budhist temples, the Lankatileka and Watadage, the Galpotha, the Lotus bath, the Kiri Vihare Dagoba and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth are other impressive sights.

(Habarana to Polonnaruwa approximately 40mins / 46 km)

Late afternoon you will take a Jeep Safari at Minneriya National Park
Located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, the 8,890 hectares of Minneriya National Park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub areas and is home to favourites such as sambar deer, leopards and elephants. However the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya Tank (built in 3rd. century AD by King Mahasena). During the dry season (June to September), this tank is an incredible place to observe the elephants who come to bathe and graze, as well as the huge flocks
of birds (cormorants and painted storks to name but a few) that come to fish in the shallow waters. Transfer time: 30min each way

Day 04 - Kandy

Today morning you will "Proceed to the last kingdom of Sri Lanka - Kandy" En-route you will stop to visit the Dambulla Cave Temple
This is located in the North Central Province. This UNESCO World Heritage Site which dates back to the 01st century BC is an amazing complex of 05 caves, first used as a refuge by an ancient king who on regaining his throne, commissioned magnificent carved images within the living rock. Later kings made further improvements and the caves contain over 150 images of the Buddha of which the largest is a colossal figure spanning 15 meters. Cave inscriptions from the 2nd Century BC are found and on the walls are many paintings most of which belong to the
Kandy period (early 19th century). This temple is a perfect location to view evolution of ancient Sri Lankan art and is an important historical site due to the amalgamation of the material from many eras.
Upon completion you will travel to discover the homeopathic remedies of the East at the Matale Spice Gardens & cooking demonstration

You will have the opportunity to dabble in the homeopathic remedies of the East! The pungent aroma of the spice permeates the air as you explore the treasure garden of the Spice Gardens

Day 05 - Kandy

Enjoy your morning at leisure
In the afternoon your guide will take you around Kandy for a City tour, you will also visit the Temple of the Tooth & the Cultural Kandyan Dance Show
KANDY - Sri Lanka's hill capital, stronghold of the Sinhala Kings, is our most beautiful town. The focal point of the town is, without doubt, the golden roofed Dalada Maligawa. The highlight of the year is the Esala Perahera, when a replica of the relic casket is taken in procession accompanied by exotically costumed dancers, drummers and elephants during ten glittering nights in July/August. Visit Kalapuraya in the beautiful Dumbara valley. There are many shrines and temples, where you will see rare paintings, frescoes, wood and stone carvings.

Day 06 - Nuwara Eliya

Check out after breakfast and travel to Nuwara Eliya, en-route you will visit the Tea Plantation and the Tea Factory
Visit a tea plantation and a tea factory where one the best tea in the world is produced. You will be told all about the process of manufacturing tea and also gain first-hand experience on the manufacture of some of the best tea in world. If you're lucky you may be invited to taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea which begins its journey as raw green leaves in the hills and ends up as a final golden-brown graded product which we all but know too well.
(Kandy to Nuwara Eliya approximately 2 hours / 82 km) There after you will proceed to your hotel

Day 07 - Colombo

Day 08 - Departure - Airport

Check out and proceed to the airport for your departure.
