Day 01 Arrival to Costa Rica
Upon arrival to San Jose’s International airport a CRT guide will meet tour participants and arrange transfers to hotel with luggage handling. Guests will also receive travel documents and a complete explanation on the following day’s activities. On route to the hotel clients will take in a San José City sightseeing tour.
San Jose City Sightseeing Tour: the City Tour of San Jose, the country's capital, is the best way to begin a trip to Costa Rica. The sightseeing tour goes through the main residential areas and commercial district of the city, founded in 1737, with a current population of 1.608.000 habitants.
Day 02 San José – South Pacific Coast
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from hotel towards San Jose to visit the Pre-Columbian Golden Museum.
Gold Museum: The Pre-Columbian Gold Museum has an extraordinary collection of gold objects that reflect the world-view, social structure and gold working techniques of the Pre-Columbian people of Costa Rica. The exhibition showcases the use and function of the pieces, the technology of their fabrication, as well as their relationship to the natural world and the daily lives of these societies. The collection consists of 1600 pieces of Pre-Columbian gold work that date from 500 BC to 1500 AC.
In the afternoon you will travel by ground transfer to the South Pacific Coast area, the best point for whale observation in Costa Rica. The only place in the world visited by whale tribes from northern and southern hemispheres.
Check in at the hotel followed by a good selection of optional half day (afternoon) activities for an additional cost, or just relax at the hotel taking in the facilities including pool, spa, wet bar and restaurant or discover the local surroundings. Enjoy dinner on your own and have the rest of the night at your leisure.
Day 03 The day you will never forget!!!
Early pick up at the hotel to start an exciting adventure, the cetaceans observation. ***Note: pick season for whales courtship is from July to October however many other species of cetaceans can be found during the rest of the year.
Departing early in the morning in a comfortable van you will be taken on a drive down the Costanera Highway, along the Pacific Ocean for about 1 ½ hours to the town of Sierpe. Here you will board a cozy boat and cruise for 45 minutes down the Sierpe River through the largest Mangrove swamp in Central America, watching the abundant wildlife along the shores. Once through the Sierpe River mouth and into the Pacific Ocean you will start the search for some of the 5 species of Dolphins, Whales and/or possibly Sea Turtles that inhabit these waters. Your guide will illustrate the trip
with interesting facts about these fascinating mammals and their Natural History. The spectacular views of Drakes Bay, Caño Island and Violines Island will amaze you. When you get hungry a delicious picnic lunch will be prepared and then you can get back to Dolphins and Whale watching.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. you will start to head back to Sierpe and to Dominical. You will have the rest of the evening-night at your leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities including the natural walking trails, pool and Spa. Dinner will be on your own.
Day 04 South Pacific Coast – Manuel Antonio
Buffet breakfast at the hotel followed by ground transportation to Manuel Antonio Beach. Afternoon and night at leisure with lunch and dinner on your own.
One of the biggest attractions when visiting Manuel Antonio is without a doubt its national park. At present it is not only one of the most visited parks in Costa Rica but its beauty is without compare. Composed of several trails and two of the most breath taking white sandy beaches, the park is a true tropical rainforest with lots of mammals and birds to observe along the way.
Manuel Antonio is a true ecosystem surrounded by rainforests and lush mountains that literally meet the ocean. Its great popularity is well deserved as one of the richest natural places in Costa Rica to enjoy wildlife, home of the titi monkey which is in risk of extinction, white faced monkeys, two and
three toed sloths, lapas, colorful butterflies, a huge variety of birds, squirrel monkeys. All together there are more than one hundred different species of animals and over two hundred species of birds.
Day 05 Choice of tour in Manuel Antonio
After enjoying a buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will be taken to the tour of your selection as follows. Lunch included on the tour and dinner on your own.
Savegre River Rafting
For this class 3-4 river, the rafts are built for 6 passengers and guides will travel in kayaks alongside you to ensure your safety. Savegre River boasts class 3 rapids and is filled with bends and turns of excitement. You will spend approximately 2 ½ hours in the raft taming the rapids, taking occasional pit stops to rest and admire some of the region’s beautiful flora and fauna.
The catamaran will chart a picturesque course departing from Quepos gliding around the back of Manuel Antonio national park. Your guide will point
out notable wildlife and vegetation specimens, so be sure to have your camera ready. You will pass by panoramas adorned with islands, cliffs and rock formations. You can admire aviary nesting grounds and marine wildlife. Beverages and snacks are available onboard the catamaran throughout the trip, same as snorkeling equipment.
Mountain Horseback Riding
This tour allows you to uncover the exotic secrets that lie within this secondary rainforest. You will ride through the mountains over approximately 2 and a half hours roundtrip, highlighted by views of the valley, verdant vegetation and numerous wildlife species such as birds and reptiles. At the end of the trail there is a beautiful waterfall where you will be able to rest for about 30 minutes. You can lounge on the grass or take a swim.
Day 06 Manuel Antonio Beach
Buffet breakfast at the hotel and rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the hotel facilities such as pool, walking trails, bar and massages. Optional activities are also available for an additional cost. Lunch and dinner is on your own.
Day 07 San José
After breakfast you will departure to San José on a ground transfer for your last night in town.
Day 08 Adios Costa Rica
After breakfast at your hotel depart on a private transfer to the Juan Santamaría International Airport for your flight back home.
