Overview

The Elewana Safari combines the contrasting landscapes of Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the Serengeti, with stays in some of the most luxurious accommodation Tanzania has to offer. Harness your spirit of adventure and journey into Tanzania’s wild country in Tarangire where large baobab and acacia trees punctuate the vast plains. This safari then travels via Lake Manyara to the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti National Park. These spectacular wilderness areas are home to an abundance of wildlife such as wildebeest, zebra, elephant, rhino, buffalo and Africa's big cats. Other highlights include a stop at Ol Duvai Gorge, the ‘cradle of mankind’ and a visit to a colourful Masai village. The Elewana Safari captures the wild beauty of Tanzania.

Day 1 - Fly to Nairobi

Fly overnight from Heathrow to Nairobi.

Day 2 - Arusha

On arrival in Nairobi connect with your flight to Kilimanjaro. You are met on arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transferred to the Arusha Coffee Lodge. This exclusive boutique lodge is cradled in the broad acres of Tanzania's largest coffee plantation and radiates the warmth of an old colonial plantation home. It is the perfect place to relax by the pool and take in the views of the surrounding area. (l,d)

Day 3 - Tarangire

Enjoy breakfast accompanied by fine freshly ground coffee from the plantation before driving 160 kms to Tarangire Treetops Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon drive into Tarangire National Park for a game-drive. This national park is best known for its large herds of elephant and its grassy hills that are dotted with baobabs and red-earth termite mounds. Tarangire Treetops captures the timeless essence of adventure. This exclusive lodge is perched high up in the age-old baobab and marula trees and offers a unique stay in the African bush. (b,l,d)

Day 4 - Tarangire

Spend a full day in the Tarangire National Park with morning and afternoon game drives. Optional activities such as game walks and night game drives are also available at an extra cost. (b,l,d)

Day 5 - Ngorongoro

After breakfast drive 120 km to Lake Manyara National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch and an afternoon game drive along the lake's shore before continuing 40 kms to the Manor at Ngorongoro, arriving in time for dinner. The Manor at Ngorongoro features 20 luxurious guest cottage suites that combine East African safari hospitality with old world Afro-European architecture and decor. (b,l,d)

Day 6 - Ngorongoro Crater

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day excursion followed by a visit to a local Masai village. The unique Ngorongoro Crater is home to a microcosm of East African wildlife; the steep crater walls are forested by dense woodlands and the crater floor features large areas of grassland, wetlands and a soda lake fed by the Munge River. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the last places in Tanzania where the endangered black rhino thrives in the wild. (b,l,d)

Day 7 - Serengeti

After breakfast drive to the Serengeti National Park. Enjoy a picnic lunch en route and a brief stop at the Ol Duvai Gorge and museum. Continue to Migration Camp arriving in the late afternoon with a game drive en route. The camp is a haven of sumptuous indulgence in a stunning wild setting overlooking the Grumeti River and its resident hippos. The spacious tents have been comfortably furnished and are carefully placed to provide privacy and blend into the natural environment. (b,l,d)

Day 8 - Serengeti

Spend a full day on game drives in the Serengeti National Park. To the Masai people this area is known as Siringitu which means "the place where the land moves on forever." If you are lucky you might even spot some of Africa’s ‘Big 5’ (b,l,d)

Day 9 - Tanzania Holiday Extension or Fly Home

After breakfast transfer to the airstrip for a scheduled flight by light aircraft to Arusha (approximately 1 hr) where you are met on arrival and transferred to a local restaurant for lunch. In the afternoon transfer to the Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to Nairobi, then proceed with your chosen beach holiday extension or your flight home. (b,l)
