Day 1 - Arrival to Cape Town
Upon arriving at Cape Town International Airport you will be met by our local representative and soon after you'll be wheeled away to your hotel where you will have the remainder of the day to spend at your own leisure. You can make the most of this free time to visit the "Mother City" of Cape Town and explore it at your own pace. Our suggestion for you on this day is to head to the popular V&A Waterfront or take a cable car ride up Table Mountain.
Day 2 and 3 - At Leisure in Cape Town
Over the next two days you have various tour options with a choice of three different tours to choose from. Over the course of these two days you can take your pick from the Cape Winelands Tour, the Cape Town City Tour and the Cape Peninsula tour.
The first option is to go for the full day Cape Peninsula Tour where you will be driving along the Atlantic seaboard via Hout Bay. You will have reached your final destination after arriving to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve where you will be left to admire the breathtaking views from its scenic viewpoint. You will also be stopping at Boulders Beach to catch a glimpse of the African penguins and soon after you'll be taken to explore the naval port of Simon's Town. With a beautiful loacation on False Bay, this small town is big on character and atmosphere with a rich history.
Alternatively you can opt for the Cape Winelands full day tour where you will be immersing on a cultural and recreational adventure sampling the area's best wines. First off you'll start your day taking in the tranquil beauty of Paarl, Franschhoek and Stellenbosch, all of which are small towns in the Cape Winelands. You will get to experience the region's rich historical background and cultural heritage while tasting a fine range of wines at some well-known local wine estates.
To complement either of the above tours you can go for the Cape Town City Tour, a half-day optional excursion that gives travellers the ultimate Mother City experience, offering a delightful insight into the magic of Cape Town.
Day 4 - From Cape Town to Knsyna
This morning you will depart Cape Town and the day will start with your departure from the hotel as you make your way to the Avis Cape Town Downtown depot to collect your car hire and head to Knysna (on your own account). Once onboard you will travel along the N" passing through Swellendam, Mossel Bay, George and finally arriving to the lagoon town of Knysna. One of Southern Cape coast's most popular holiday destinations, you will get the rest of the day for exploring the beauty of Knysna on your own and its dramatic scenery as it lies between the shores of a tranquil lagoon and the lush forests.
Day 5 - Knysna
On this day you will continue your exploration of Knysna, a pristine town offering visitors tons of options and attractions. The most famous of these is the "Heads", two amazing sandstone cliffs guarding the mouth of the lagoon that connects the estuary with the sea. We suggest that in order to see this astounding feat of nature you take a ferry boat cruise across the lagoon to the Featherbed Nature Reserve for a stroll through the forest and a view of the ‘Heads’.
Just further along the most coastline is the town of Plettenberg Bay, here we suggest you enjoy a tour of Monkeyland, a sanctuary and home to numerous species of monkeys, followed by a tour of Birds of End, the largest free flight walk through aviary in the world.
There are many nearby attractions which you can choose from, from bungi jumping (216 metres) off the Bloukrans River Bridge, or enjoying an ecological marine adventure with the opportunity to interact with the whales and dolphins, or just lazing on the beach.
Day 6 - Knysna via Port Elizabeth to Kariega Game Reserve
Today you will be travelling through the scenic Tsitsikamma Forest, a coastal forested area of immense beauty before travelling onto Kariega Game Reserve, via Port Elizabeth. Kariega comprise 9000ha of pristine wilderness incorporating the picturesque Kariega and Bushman’s Rivers. The reserve offers a combination of ‘Big Five’ game viewing and an expansive variety of fauna, flora and birdlife in a landscape that spans across 5 different eco systems, offering the most dramatic views of vistas. The result is very powerful and truly unique to Kariega. This afternoon enjoy an open vehicle safari, before return after sunset to a wonderful dinner.
Day 7 and 8 - Kariega Game Reserve
Enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives in an open safari vehicle, with an excellent chance of seeing the ‘Big Five’. In addition to unforgettable game viewing from open safari vehicles with qualified rangers, the Kariega experience is unique in its offering of safe walking and diversity of activities which include river cruises, canoeing, fishing, a spa and gym and visits to the nearby beaches (clients own account).
Day 9 - Kariega Game Reserve to Oudtshoorn
This morning is an early start travelling towards Oudtshoorn. You will travel over the scenic Outenique Pass from George to Oudtshoorn. Arrive in Oudtshoorn, affectionately known as the ‘feather capital’, because of its large ostrich farming industry. Suggest you visit an ostrich show farm for an informative tour, or explore the Cango Caves, one of the world’s great natural wonders.
Guests are based in the main lodge on arrival depending upon the time game drive takes place in the afternoon. There will be two game drives each day on days 7 and 8 and a morning game drive on day 9.
Day 10 - Oudtshoorn to Hermanus
Today you head along ‘Route 62’, one of the most beautiful travel routes in South Africa, as well as one of the least known and least travelled ones. Make your way via Calitzdorp, Barrydale, Montagu and Robertson onto Hermanus. Hermanus has become known as the heart of the Cape Whale Coast, attracting nature lovers from all over the world, with numerous vantage points for viewing the southern right whales during their annual migration (Jul - Nov). Hermunus is famous for its long stretches of beach, mild climate, rich floral kingdom and friendly environment.
Day 11 - Hermanus to Stellenbosch
After breakfast make your way back via the scenic Sir Lowry’s Pass, which provides spectacular views of the Cape Peninsula, and onto Stellenbosch. Stellenbosch is the second oldest town in South Africa. Sample wines of merit produced in this area at several world renowned wine farms. Stroll through the streets of Stellenbosch town, browsing the many interesting curio shops. The area offers superb scenic views over mountains, vineyards and orchards covered with wild flowers in spring.
Day 12 - Stellenbosch / Depart Cape Town
As you trip sadly nears its end, on this final day you will spend the morning at leisure to wave your goodbyes before returning to Cape Town International Airport for your onward flight.
