Thailand receives multiple awards in SmartTravelAsia Best in Travel Poll

Absolute Sanctuary in Koh Samui rebrands as fitness-wellness resort

A yoga and detox retreat on the Thai island of Koh Samui has rebranded as a fitness-wellness resort offering everything from pilates and spin classes to spa treatments and healthy food. The 38-room Absolute Sanctuary resort is also expanding its facilities to include a larger gym and cycling studio.

Centara Kata Resort Phuket in Thailand appoints new resort manager

A brand new Resort Manager has been announced for the upscale Centara Kata Resort Phuket in Thailand. Veerapol Poungvarin, the former resort manager of Centara Chaan Talay Resorts & Villas, has taken the role, after working in the hospitality and hotel industry for more than 25 years. The manager has been with the Centara Hotels and Resorts group since 2013.

Thai resort the Sarojin introduces new catch and dine experience

Luxury Thai resort The Sarojin has added a new ‘catch and dine’ package to its list of culinary experiences for guests. Travellers will be taken on a traditional Thai fishing trip and later an expert seafood chef will cook the catch for dinner at the resort’s gourmet restaurant.

Michelin launches first guide to Bangkok

Thailand, a country renowned for its cuisine, has never had one of its cities featured in a Michelin Guide. That will change later this year, when a Michelin Guide to Bangkok is published. The city is already famous for its street food vendors, but tourism officials hope that publication of the guide will bring increased visitors to the city’s restaurants.

Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand appoints new hotel manager

The Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand has appointed a new hotel manager. German national, Manuel Lang, will report to the property’s general manager, and he will bring more than 20 years of hospitality experience to the role, after working in various management position at hotels and resorts across the world, including the General Manager of the Putahracsa Hua Hin.
