Movenpick drops by The Holiday Place bearing Christmas gifts

dusitD2 Phuket Aria to open on upscale Surin Beach in Thailand in 2020

Dusit International will operate a new hotel in Phuket, Thailand, after it signed a management agreement with Layana Development, a Phuket-based property developer. The dusitD2 Phuket Aria will be located on Surin Beach on the west coast of Phuket, and it will have 199 guest rooms, studios and one and two-bedroom units, family suites, plus facilities including restaurants and a rooftop infinity pool and terrace.

Movenpick Hotels and Resorts to open three new hotels in Thailand

Movenpick Hotels and Resorts has signed a management agreement with property developer Nusasiri to open three new hotels in Thailand. Movenpick Residences Ekkamai, Bangkok and Movenpick Resort Khao Yai are due to open later this year, and Movenpick Resort Mai Khao Phuket will open in the fourth quarter of 2017. The new additions will bring the hotel group’s total number of properties in Thailand to seven.

Thailand announces official national period of mourning for one year

Following the death of Thailand's HM King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the country is observing an official, nationwide period of mourning starting 14th October and lasting a whole year. Those visiting during this time should take into account the new rules in place with regards to the sale of alcohol, the changes to some nightclub venues and the cancellation of all planned festivities, which will be withdrawn over the next 30 days. Wyndham Hotel Group to open Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay in Thailand

The Wyndham Hotel Group is to open its second hotel in Phuket in Thailand in November, The Wyndham Grand Phuket Kalim Bay is located north of Patong Beach, and will have 214 guest rooms with views overlooking Patong Bay, and 152 pool villas with private infinity pools and outdoor sun decks. There will be upscale facilities including two outdoor swimming pools, two restaurants, a spa and a kids club.

Thailand protects marine eco-system in Mu Koh Chumphon National Park

Governor Somdee Khachanyangyuen has announced that parts of Mu Koh Chumphon National Park in Thailand have closed indefinitely to allow corals that have been affect by bleaching to recover. The Department of National Parks (DNP) ordered the closure of the popular scuba diving sites at Koh Ngam Noi, Koh Maprao, Koh Kula and Koh Rad, following a recent survey of coral reefs.
