Thailand welcomed one million UK tourists in 2016

After receiving a record-breaking number of one million UK visitors in 2016, Thailand has much to celebrate indeed. Reaching this long-established goal marks an incredible milestone for this enchanting Far Eastern destination that's so popular among British travellers. A total 1,004,669 UK visitors made it to Thailand in 2016 and the country ready to welcome an even bigger figure this 2017.

Michelin launches first guide to Bangkok

Thailand, a country renowned for its cuisine, has never had one of its cities featured in a Michelin Guide. That will change later this year, when a Michelin Guide to Bangkok is published. The city is already famous for its street food vendors, but tourism officials hope that publication of the guide will bring increased visitors to the city’s restaurants.

Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand appoints new hotel manager

The Banyan Tree Phuket in Thailand has appointed a new hotel manager. German national, Manuel Lang, will report to the property’s general manager, and he will bring more than 20 years of hospitality experience to the role, after working in various management position at hotels and resorts across the world, including the General Manager of the Putahracsa Hua Hin.

Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong MGallery by Sofitel opens in Thailand

The Avista Hideaway Phuket Patong MGallery by Sofitel has opened to guests on the hilltop in Patong. The five-star boutique hotel in Thailand has 150 guest rooms and suites that feature furnishings made from local woods and stones, and one of its main draws is the tranquil Aqua Spa & Massage centre with eight treatments rooms, and two outside cabanas where guests can indulge in lavish therapies.

Asara Villa & Suite Resort, now owned by Movenpick Hotels & Resorts in Thailand

Movenpick Hotels & Resorts has revealed that it will rebrand and run the existing Asara Villa & Suite Resort in Thailand. The property is scheduled to re-launch as the new Mövenpick Asara Resort & Spa Hua Hin in November, and it will have 54 pool villas and 42 suites, plus a kids club, spa with eight treatment rooms, multiple swimming pools, and a number of dining outlets.

U Jomtien Hotel to open to guests in Pattaya, Thailand in 2018

Absolute Hotel Services has announced that it will manage a second U Hotel in Pattaya in Thailand, after it signed an agreement with Grand Jasmine View. Scheduled to open in early 2018, the U Jomtien will be situated on Jomtien Beach, and it will have 63 guest rooms, plus facilities including an oceanfront swimming pool, a fitness centre, a restaurant with terrace, and a library.
