Sharjah: fabulous for an all-inclusive getaway
The perks of going all inclusive in Sharjah
If you long for the pure holiday experience of being pampered and completely taken care of, with the only real decision being whether to sunbathe by the pool or luxuriate on the beach, there are some fabulous all inclusive resorts in Sharjah. For a carefree holiday staying beside a private strip of sand, enjoying the warm climate and ocean with everything you need close to hand, the peaceful emirate is ideal.
A mix of Arabian hospitality and modern luxury in resorts of the highest international standards, Sharjah's all inclusive hotels are immaculately kept, airy and spacious with large rooms, spectacular views, private beaches and diverse dining options. Although no alcohol is served in the emirate, you can discover a whole range of delicious fresh fruit cocktails and juices served in the hotels that will help you come home rejuvenated and refreshed.
With everything paid for in advance, there's no need to watch the pennies or even to leave the resort at all. Many resorts in Sharjah also offer a programme of activities throughout the week, in particular for children, and there is often free evening entertainment in resort too. Add to that free kids clubs and delicious cuisine, and you have all the ingredients for a relaxing yet animated holiday.
If you are looking for the perfect beach escape to spend your days relaxing in the sun with the gentle soundtrack of softly lapping waves, Khor Fakkan bay in Sharjah's tiny eastern enclave of the same name, is a little piece of paradise. The Oceanic Hotel and Resort is perched above its own private stretch of fine sandy beach and marina, and offers guests everything needed for a blissful self-contained beach break. You can lounge on the beach or by the seafront pool, enjoy full board in-resort with light refreshments and meals, and take advantage of the watersports facilities to get active out on the water.
For an all-inclusive resort by the beach but close to the action of Sharjah City, the Radisson Blu Resort Sharjah ticks all the boxes. On the edge of Khalid Lagoon near the main corniche and with its own scallop of sand, it's one of the best beachfront resorts around the city. Also particularly suited to families is the four-star Sharjah Grand Hotel, with a water slide pool by a quiet beach with thatched sunshades and sunloungers exclusively for hotel guests. The hotel offers lots of activities such as kayaking and beach volleyball and there's also a kids playground. Meena Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner both buffet style and à la carte, and the pretty La Terrace Cafe offers daytime refreshments and snacks, including delightful exotic fruit cocktails.
You can find aquatic sports galore at Sharjah's all-inclusives, which are nearly all set by the water. As well as having free loungers and sunshades spaced out on a private stretch of palm-studded sand, guests can use non-motorized watersports facilities and borrow equipment for snorkelling or simply floating about in the warm water. The calm lagoons of Al Khan and Al Mamzar are particularly good spots for watersports with a wide range of hotels to choose from. For guests who want to explore further afield, many resorts run free shuttle bus services to downtown Sharjah with its cultural treasures and corniches, and to neighbouring Dubai with its iconic buildings and razzmatazz.
An international hotel with a luxurious Arabian slant to its design created by lush fabrics, palms, marble and gold gilt accents, the Hilton overlooks Sharjah City's beautiful sand fringed lagoons and modern skyline. With the city and all its sights on the doorstep, it not only offers high-quality dining on a full board basis but it's ideal for travellers who want a luxury base from which to explore. It's close to the idyllic landscaped Majaz waterfront and lagoon-skimming corniche, as well as the entertainment hub of Al Qasba with its giant Eye of the Emirates observation wheel. As part of its packages, the hotel runs shuttle buses to the local beaches, the Sahara Shopping Centre and neighbouring Dubai.
