Diving and Snorkeling

Duration: 3 - 4 Hours

diving and snorkeling

The Sultanate of Oman is a beautiful, unique diving and snorkeling destination, which offers a variety of exciting underwater adventures for travellers seeking something a bit different in a holiday. Oman may not be the first destination that springs to mind when considering taking a diving tour, but this exotic country hosts some of the most biologically diverse seas in the world and is rapidly gaining a reputation for its high quality diving.

This tour will take you snorkelling or diving off the coast of Oman’s capital, Muscat, one of the best areas in the region. The waters here host an abundance of rich marine life, wrecks and beautiful, natural coral reefs, which are just waiting to be explored.

Oman’s coast is formed by the Arabian Sea on the south and east, and the Gulf of Oman on the northeast. The Tropic of Cancer passes through Oman just south of the capital Muscat, so most of the country’s waters lie within the tropics. Oman’s waters also occupy a small part of the Indian Ocean, which explains why Oman’s seas host such an abundance of diverse marine life.

Enjoy a day diving or snorkelling off the coast of Muscat during your holiday in Oman, where you can explore a majestic underwater world of vibrant colours and exotic marine species. With over 100 dive sites to choose from around Muscat’s coast alone, there is a tour to suit everyone, whether you are a beginner or a more experienced diver.

The nutrient-rich waters surrounding Muscat are teeming with tropical marine life, providing excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities. Oman’s natural, unspoilt coral reefs are amongst some of the most beautiful in the world, creating a diver’s paradise. There are now estimated to be around 130 species of coral off the coast of Oman, which is much more than originally believed. A mixture of both hard and soft corals can be found in these tropical waters, including brain coral, black coral, brown and green table coral, flower coral, blue coral, whip coral, red and yellow teddy-bear corals and bright sponges.

Marvel at the vivid colours as you explore the coral gardens, swimming alongside schools of tropical fish. Oman’s waters are abundant with over 900 fish species, of all shapes and sizes. You are likely to see parrot fish, angel fish, lionfish, tuna, blue trigger fish and many more during this tour. You may even get the chance to see whales or dolphins on the boat trip out to your dive site. The fish population here is so abundant that new species are still being discovered every day. Other marine creatures you are likely to see in this beautiful underwater ecosystem include sea turtles, sting rays, manta rays, seahorses, whale sharks, sea cucumbers and honeycomb moray eels.

This exhilarating tour will enable you to discover some of Oman’s true Middle Eastern treasures.
