Batinah Bash - Full Day Safari

Duration: Full Day

batinah bash - full day safari

There are over 1,000 miles of beautiful coastline to explore in Oman, officially the Sultanate of Oman, where you will discover contrasting landscapes of rocky shores and coral reefs, sandy, palm-lined beaches, tranquil bays and bustling fishing villages. Located along the southern coast of the Gulf of Oman, Batinah is one of the country’s most fertile coasts. Economically, it is one of Oman’s most important regions, due to its abundant agricultural and mineral opportunities, and it is also one of the most densely populated areas in the country after the capital Muscat.

Stretching from the sea to the foothills of the Hajar mountain range, between Khatmat Malahah in the north and Ras AL Hamra in the south, the beautiful Batinah coastline is famous for its beautiful sandy beaches and the ancient fort towns of Rustaq, Barka, Sohar and Nakhal, which all have their own individual charm. This full day tour along Oman’s coast will first take you to the ancient fishing village of Seeb and its bustling, atmospheric Fish Souq (market).

We then drive through lush date palms to the impressive Nakhl Fort and hot springs of Nakhl town, located at the foot of Jebel al Akhdar in the Western Hajar Mountains. Built on a rocky, 200-meter-high mountain peak, the dramatic Nakhl Fort is the most prominent feature in the town. Over 350 years old, this impressive piece of military architecture was built to protect trade routes from Nizwa to the coast. The fort has been extended several times over the centuries and was restored in 1990 using traditional Islamic building materials and period furnishings. There are a number of natural hot springs in Nakhl, which flow through the village and down into the wadi, including the famous Thowarah spring. Situated close to the fort and surrounded by date palms, this scenic oasis is a popular picnic spot for locals and visitors.

This tour will also take you to the beautiful mountain farming village of Wakan in Wadi Mistal, which is renowned for its green agricultural terraces. The orchards are full trees bearing all sorts of fruit such as bright red pomegranates, apricots, grapes, almonds and peaches, which host an incredible display of pink and white blossom in the springtime.

Your next stop is Wadi Abhyad. This area has large patches of white sedimentation, which is why the name means “white wadi” when translated. Situated in the wilayat, Wadi Abyad contains deep, warm 'blue pools'. The colouration derives from the mineral deposits in the water.

Enjoy spectacular vistas of Oman’s rugged landscape as we drive down through winding mountain roads, villages, lush palm plantations and valleys. A holiday in Oman wouldn’t be complete without exploring the rural delights of this Middle Eastern treasure.
