Amazing Dolphins

Duration: Half Day

amazing dolphins

Situated in southwest Asia, on the southeast coast of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman is a country of great natural beauty and diverse landscapes, where you will discover deserts, beaches, dense forests, dramatic peaks and canyons. Oman’s coast is formed by the Arabian Sea on the south and east, and the Gulf of Oman on the northeast. The country’s waters also occupy a small part of the Indian Ocean, and which explains why Oman’s waters host such an abundance of diverse marine life. Thousands of visitors come to this exciting country every year to watch numerous species of dolphins and whales in the wild, the majority of which can be spotted off the coast of Muscat, the capital and largest city in Oman.

Departing from Muscat’s harbour, this exhilarating tour will take you on a boat ride into the Arabian Sea searching for pods of bottlenose, common and spinner dolphins. These beautiful, graceful creatures are a pleasure to watch, providing plenty of entertainment for spectators as they somersault, spin and dive in and out of the water playfully.

You may even be lucky enough to spot different species of whales on the trip, which can be found just a couple of kilometres from Muscat’s coast. Although whale sightings are not as common as dolphins, numerous species inhabit Oman’s waters, including blue whales, false killer whales, sperm whales, humpback whales, blue whales, pilot whales and many more. Your onboard naturalist guide will inform you of sightings, and also brief you on these fascinating mammals’ behaviour, lifestyle and ecology. Microphones are placed under the water, so you will also get the chance to hear the beautiful sounds and songs of Oman’s whales and dolphins.

Not every trip guarantees a sighting, although your chances of seeing dolphins is about 90%. Either way, the boat ride is an exciting adventure it itself because you get to view Muscat’s beautiful rugged coastline. Situated between the sea and mountains, the city’s dramatic landscape is even more spectacular when viewed from the sea. The rocky shores are lined with stunning coral reefs, which host an amazing diversity of marine life, and the many bays and coves dotted along the coastline offer idyllic tranquillity.

This tour offers an excellent insight into the fascinating world of dolphin and whales, made all the more special by seeing them in their natural habitat in this exciting Middle Eastern country.
Soft drinks, tea and coffee will be served on-board with breakfast.
