When to go to Ajman

With year-round sunshine and breathtaking beaches, Ajman holidays are becoming increasingly popular for travellers who want to explore more of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). In particular, this emirate has plenty to offer those looking for a relaxing and serene experience in this thriving and bustling area of the world.

Your holiday in Ajman

As with a lot of Middle Eastern countries, the customs can be quite different from what you are used to back home. From different laws around drinking to what is appropriate to wear outside and how to conduct yourself, it's best to familiarise yourself with the local rules before you travel.

One of the biggest changes for tourists is that the weekend runs from Friday to Saturday, and for many Thursday is a half day. This means that many public services and businesses will operate differently over these days. As an Islamic country, it's also important to be aware of the significance of religion in this part of the world. For example, activity will often be much quieter on Friday mornings, though most businesses will be open after the mosque services.

During Ramadan, things can change quite significantly with many restaurants staying closed during the day. In addition, many shops and offices will only stay open until the early afternoon, allowing people to go home for the last few hours of their fast.

If this will interfere with your travel plans, then it's best to check that your trip doesn't coincide with the month-long event.

The national currency in Ajman - like the rest of the UAE - is the dirham. Our travel specialists can advise you on whether it's best to change your money before you go and whether a travel card, travellers cheques or cash is most suitable.

Eating out

Ajman has a number of places where you can get a delicious meal, with restaurants across the region. Tipping is not compulsory but is fairly common practice and many places will add a service charge to your food bill.

With sunshine expected on most days, a holiday in Ajman can be the perfect way to get your fix of warm weather and rain is extremely rare. Travelling between November and February will give you the highest chance of having rain, which can cause some problems with travel. However, Ajman holidays from late October to mid-March should give you a better climate for your beach getaway.

In the summer, Ajman can be extremely hot and the level of humidity can be unpleasant for some.
