What to see and do in Ajman
Compared to the rest of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ajman is a quiet retreat for those looking for time away from the hustle and bustle found in other areas, such as Dubai.
Its beautiful, palm-lined sandy beach is its standout feature. However, as Ajman is still a fairly up-and-coming area of the UAE, it doesn't attract the same hoards of tourists as elsewhere in the region.
This means you can still benefit from the year-round sunshine, without having to fight your way to the best spot to sunbathe.
The sandy shorelines of the beach allow you to spend your time sunbathing and paddling in the crystal clear waters. You should also keep your eyes peeled, as dolphins are often seen playing all along this breathtaking section of coast.
A holiday in Ajman is ideal for couples
Perfect for a honeymoon getaway, a holiday in Ajman offers plenty of opportunities to find romance. Taking a stroll along the Corniche will allow you to experience the local culture, as many people use this area to enjoy barbecues or picnics together when the weather is cool enough.
There are also a wide range of restaurants in this area, making it the ideal place to take a mid-evening walk. As the weather cools, you can find yourself the perfect spot to enjoy an evening meal.
An Ajman holiday also gives you the opportunity to sample some of the local culture. Located inside an 18th century fort, the Ajman Museum is one of the main attractions in the region.
Finding local culture
Aside from its stunning architecture, it is home to a number of interesting artefacts that help explain the journey the UAE has come on since its foundation. Originally, the fort acted as a symbol of strength and leadership, representing political authority and an emirate that was capable of defending itself.
Now a historical landmark, the fort is a record of the transition of the UAE through the different eras and provides insight for tourists wanting to sample the local culture. Inside, visitors can see models of antiquities and traditional industries, as well as many images portraying what life was like in the past.
For families planning a holiday in Ajman, Magic Planet gives little ones the perfect opportunities to release their energy and have some fun. There's also a nearby food court where you can get something to eat.
Excursions and Attractions
The very mention of Dubai conjures up images of a rich man’s playground, boasting luxury hotels, developments and shopping malls wherever you turn. If you venture away from the city, however, there are a number of exciting trips to embark on along...
